6'1, Class of 2027

Thomas Nelson HS, KY

Tyler brings the type of calm control and fearless confidence every team wants, leading the charge because once the ball is in his hands, the game instantly begins moving at his pace. A crafty and tough lead guard with strong instincts, Tyler knows exactly how to balance scoring, leadership, tempo, and toughness every time he steps on the floor. Whether he is attacking downhill, raining in three-point shots, creating opportunities for teammates, or locking in defensively against opposing guards, Tyler impacts winning in every area of the game. What makes him such a difficult matchup is his ability to stay poised while still playing aggressive. He understands how to control the flow of the game while also knowing when it is time to attack and make plays himself. His preparation before games has become a huge part of that success because he makes sure he is mentally locked in through stretching, warmups, and watching film before stepping on the floor.

Tyler’s junior season was filled with growth, adversity, and major moments that helped shape him into a stronger floor general. His team battled all season and finished as runners-up in the district championship after a heartbreaking double-overtime loss, then advanced into region play against Taylor. Through it all, Tyler delivered an efficient season, averaging 16.2 points per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 35.1 percent from three, and 81.7 percent from the free-throw line. What was clicking most was his confidence running the show offensively while trusting the work he had put in behind the scenes. Tyler takes pride in being a leader on the floor, controlling tempo, and putting teammates in the right spots to succeed because he understands great point guards make the entire team better.

After the high school season, Tyler shifted his focus right into AAU basketball with Kentucky Ambition, where he has embraced running the point guard position full-time. Playing for Coach O has been a huge part of his growth because he has been given the freedom to go make plays while building a strong relationship with the coaching staff and teammates. The fit has felt natural because Kentucky Ambition has trusted him to lead while continuing to grow as both a player and vocal leader. Tyler has loved the environment because it pushes him competitively while also allowing him to play with confidence and freedom.

One of the toughest things Tyler battled through this year came after the high school season when a back injury began bothering him and created adversity physically. Instead of allowing it to slow his growth mentally, Tyler stayed focused on improving and continued working through the process. One of the biggest improvements in his game has been his defense because guarding opposing teams’ best players consistently forced him to become tougher, more disciplined, and more competitive on that end of the floor. He now takes pride in being vocal defensively, communicating constantly, and helping lead the team through effort and energy.

Moving forward, Tyler’s biggest offseason goals are focused on continuing to get stronger, staying disciplined daily, and perfecting every area of his game through consistency. He understands that growth does not happen overnight, and that mindset continues to push him every day in the gym, weight room, and during AAU competition. Looking ahead to next season, coaches can expect a true leader who stays positive, competes hard, controls the game, and does everything possible to help his team win. Tyler carries himself like a floor general who embraces responsibility, thrives under pressure, and genuinely wants the best for the people around him. More than anything, coaches can expect an absolute winner every time he steps between the lines.

I assess that Tyler is a smart and steady lead guard whose ability to control tempo, lead offensively, and defend opposing guards makes him extremely valuable in winning basketball. His efficiency, decision-making, vocal leadership, and toughness stand out immediately. Tyler’s ability to balance scoring with playmaking while staying composed under pressure gives his team stability and confidence throughout games.

Moving forward, Tyler has the tools and mentality to continue growing into a highly impactful point guard capable of elevating the players around him. As he continues getting stronger physically and building confidence defensively, his overall game becomes even more complete. His leadership qualities, basketball IQ, and competitive consistency create a strong foundation for continued success heading into next season and beyond. Stay tuned.
