Every time Diego steps on the floor, defenses are instantly forced into a chess match because of the way he controls pace, reads the floor, and attacks openings before they fully develop. Diego is the type of high-IQ lead guard who makes the game look smooth while constantly keeping defenders guessing through his shiftiness, creativity, and ability to score from multiple levels. What makes him so dangerous is his unpredictability because he can collapse the defense with tight handles and quick bursts to the paint, rise up confidently from deep, or finish above the rim once lanes begin opening. While the scoring grabs attention quickly, Diego’s true impact comes from the way he makes everybody around him better. He thrives as a floor leader who values trust, timing, and making the right read every possession while setting the tone for the entire team offensively.

That complete floor general mentality showed throughout EYBL Session 1, where Diego averaged 13.5 points, 4.8 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals while shooting an impressive 51.2 percent from the field. Finishing Top 5 in assists in a field loaded with elite talent immediately turned heads because it highlighted how dangerous he becomes when controlling the game in rhythm. Diego explained that everything started flowing because his teammates ran the floor hard, spacing was strong, and the chemistry within the group allowed him to get deep into the paint and create efficient reads. Whether it was scoring himself or delivering passes right into the pocket for teammates, Diego constantly found ways to create winning basketball. He takes pride in setting the tempo and establishing trust because he believes a great point guard controls the energy of the game while putting teammates in positions to succeed.

His season and postseason at Huntington Prep became another major step in his development, even through difficult adversity. Injuries created frustrating stretches that kept him off the floor longer than he wanted, but instead of allowing setbacks to break his mentality, Diego attacked recovery and rehabilitation with patience and discipline. That process carried directly into AAU basketball because once fully healthy again, he returned with even more hunger and confidence heading into the EYBL circuit. The transition back into high-level competition has felt rewarding because all the hard work behind the scenes is finally translating back onto the floor.

Diego’s journey to Huntington Prep says a lot about both his character and his willingness to chase growth. Leaving Canada to join one of the most respected prep programs in the country forced him to mature quickly both on and off the court. Every day demanded another level physically, mentally, and emotionally because the competition, speed, and expectations all increased immediately. Off the floor, the experience taught him independence, adaptability, and how to build lasting relationships in completely new environments. On the floor, it sharpened his physicality, mental toughness, and understanding of what it takes to lead at a high level.

The biggest adversity Diego faced this year came mentally during those injury stretches because sitting out while loving the game deeply can become exhausting emotionally. Instead of disconnecting from the team, he learned to lead from the bench, study the game more deeply through film, and appreciate the importance of patience and long-term health. Those months helped build resilience while teaching him the importance of taking care of his body and trusting the process fully. Coming out healthy again has only added even more fire to his mentality moving forward.

One of Diego’s biggest achievements so far has been establishing himself as one of the top playmakers during EYBL Session 1 while competing against over 500 players. Even though he views that accomplishment only as a starting point, it showed the type of impact he can create at a high level. Heading deeper into AAU and beyond, Diego’s biggest focuses revolve around continuing to add strength, filling out his frame, improving his ability to play off two feet, and becoming even more complete physically. His ultimate goal remains leading his team deep into the AAU season while preparing to make a massive impact during his senior year.

Looking ahead, coaches, teammates, and fans can expect a fierce competitor who plays with energy, focus, and complete respect for the game every single night. Diego embraces the responsibility of being a leader, whether that means diving for loose balls, making winning passes, taking big shots, or bringing positivity into the locker room. He wants to be remembered as a trusted teammate, a reliable floor general, and a player who brings a winning culture everywhere he goes. With his skill set, leadership, and relentless hunger to improve, Diego continues proving he is one of the most dangerous lead guards to watch whenever the lights get brightest.

I assess that Diego is a highly skilled lead guard whose basketball IQ, playmaking instincts, and multi-level scoring ability make him extremely difficult to defend. His ability to control tempo, create efficient offense, and make teammates better immediately stands out. Diego’s shiftiness, court vision, and confidence attacking defenses give him tremendous offensive value, while his leadership qualities and resilience through adversity continue to elevate his overall impact.

Moving forward, Diego has the tools and mentality to continue evolving into a highly impactful point guard capable of leading winning basketball at a high level. As he continues adding strength and building physically, his already dangerous offensive game becomes even more complete because of how well he controls pace and reads defenses.
