Cushing HS, OK

Every time Gabe steps on the field, excitement follows because he brings an electric combination of arm strength, athleticism, leadership, and confidence that puts constant pressure on a defense. As a dynamic dual-threat quarterback, Gabe creates explosive plays with both his arm and his legs while playing with tempo, good mechanics, and a smooth touch that allows him to attack every level of the field. He thrives throwing receivers open, fitting passes into tight windows, extending plays when protection breaks down, and making something happen when everything seems covered. Just as important as the physical tools is the energy he brings every day because his mission is to be the hardest-working player on the team, lead by example, and make everyone around him better.

His freshman season at Ada came with limited varsity opportunities behind a senior quarterback, but he made every snap count and completely dominated on the JV level, completing 76 percent of his passes for 1,452 yards and 19 touchdowns with only 1 interception in 6 games, while adding 324 rushing yards and 4 more touchdowns. The postseason and offseason only pushed him even higher as he earned Offensive MVP honors at the Hotbed Freshman All-America Game, helped his team finish 8-0, was recognized as one of Oklahoma's top quarterbacks in the 2029 class, and captured QB MVP honors at the Colorado Prep Redzone event. After transferring to Cushing, the momentum continued through an outstanding summer that included college camps, offers from Cincinnati and Kansas, a 5-1 showing in 7-on-7 with a big win over Stillwater, and a third-place finish at the highly competitive Bixby event.

Gabe believes his breakout came from refusing to waste the offseason. Summer workouts at school always come first before camps and private training, while countless hours in the weight room, film study, quarterback instruction, and 7-on-7 competition have helped his game take another huge step forward. He credits the culture, coaching staff, teammates, and offensive system at Cushing for boosting his development, while continuing to improve his power, confidence, and command of the position. His combination of elite processing, accuracy, touch, decision-making, and dangerous running ability gives him a complete skill set that is difficult to defend.

Before every snap, Gabe studies defensive fronts, alignments, coverage shells, receiver splits, and any signs of pressure, trusting the preparation he has built through film and repetition. One of his biggest improvements has been processing information faster under pressure while developing the maturity to move on immediately after a mistake instead of letting one bad play affect the next. That growth has made him a more confident quarterback and an even stronger leader.

His biggest challenge came during his freshman season while waiting behind an experienced senior quarterback. Instead of allowing frustration to slow him down, Gabe used it as motivation to outwork everyone around him. That experience taught him patience, strengthened his mindset, and fueled an even greater commitment to improving every single day.

The work never stops because Gabe attacks every offseason with purpose. He is focused on quickening his release, improving his deep-ball touch, sharpening his pre-snap processing, building stronger relationships with college coaches, and leading Cushing to a district championship, a deep playoff run, and ultimately being the last team standing. His competitive fire comes from leading his teammates, embracing pressure, proving doubters wrong, and wanting the football when the game is on the line.

I assess that Gabe already shows many of the traits coaches want in a quarterback because he combines explosive athletic ability with a high football IQ, accuracy, poise, leadership, and relentless work ethic. His ability to create inside and outside the pocket, make fast decisions, and elevate those around him gives him sky-high potential as his experience continues to grow.

Few young quarterbacks match Gabe's balance of physical talent, mental approach, and daily commitment to improvement. His ceiling continues to rise because he refuses to be outworked, embraces competition, and consistently attacks every opportunity to become a better player. With another season of growth, expect him to continue turning heads while establishing himself as one of Oklahoma's rising quarterbacks. Stay tuned.
