Malek brings a reliable and well-rounded presence to the floor, blending shooting touch with physicality in the paint. A dependable spot-up threat who can also score through contact inside, he thrives at the free throw line and knocks down pull-up middy with confidence. His screens create quality looks for teammates, and he knows how to roll with purpose, whether to the rim for an easy finish or to the perimeter for an open three. On defense, Malek takes pride in playing physical and protecting the paint, using timing and positioning to block shots and control the boards. Coaches can trust him to compete every possession, communicate with teammates, and make smart, effort-based plays.
This season, Malek averaged 5.7 points, 3–4 blocks, and 7 rebounds per game, continuing to grow as a paint presence while maintaining consistency in his shooting. His biggest improvement came at the free throw line, jumping from 30% last season to a perfect 8-for-8 this year. His biggest motivator came from adversity, as a knee injury taught him the importance of full-body strength and conditioning to prevent future setbacks. That lesson has carried over into his game, where he now plays with more balance, stability, and defensive intensity.
This upcoming season, Malek’s focus is on improving his handles, building athleticism, and becoming more dangerous at the rim. His goal is to boost his scoring average and remain a consistent shooter while expanding his ability to create his own shot. He thrives when his team is building momentum, using his voice to keep energy high and help everyone contribute on the scoreboard.
Off the court, Malek balances athletics with academics, maintaining a 3.1 GPA and volunteering at the Army food pantry. His approach to challenges, blocking out distractions, learning from mistakes, and applying lessons to the next play, mirrors the advice from his mom: hard work pays off over time.
I assess that Malek’s mix of shooting consistency, screen-setting, rim protection, and rebounding makes him a valuable role player who impacts the game on both ends. His ability to stretch the floor while anchoring the paint defensively gives any team a dependable and versatile frontcourt option.
As he continues to develop his handles, finishing ability, and athleticism, Malek has the potential to transition from a steady role player into a more complete offensive threat. With his defensive mindset, improving offensive skill set, and team-first mentality, his impact will only grow in the seasons ahead. Stay tuned.

I’ve seen Malek play when my high school aau team got matched up to his. And I have to say, you have to guard him at the three but there also the risk of him using his court vision and screening on or off ball and cutting to the paint to get the lay up with the quick release.
