Marcus is the type of guard every coach wants in their corner that's coachable, competitive, and fully locked in from tip to buzzer. He is a smooth three-level scorer with a confident touch from deep, he plays the game with passion, pace, and purpose. Whether he’s spacing the floor, running the lane, or locking in on defense, Marcus plays with a high motor and a love for the game that never wavers. He’s not flashy, but he’s fierce. And when the pressure rises, his presence grows stronger. There’s a steady confidence to his game, rooted in effort, guided by IQ, and backed by belief in the gifts God gave him and himself.
This past season, Marcus averaged 13.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. His biggest improvement came mentally, he understanding spacing, timing, and relocation to give ball handlers clean reads and open lanes. He’s become quicker on both ends, reading plays and reacting with greater intent. He’s staying locked in on developing his first step, attacking fearlessly, and learning to finish over length while building one go-to counter for defenders who chase him off the line. He plays with joy, but also with purpose, trusted by his coaches to deliver in the biggest moments.
Right now, Marcus is playing with Pride Roc 17U Rob and competing on the NY2LA circuit. His mission is to become the kind of dog who leads with energy and effort, feared by opponents and respected by teammates. He wants to be known as a fearless scorer, a vocal leader, and the hardest worker in any gym. Marcus clings to moments like the state tournament and stringing together multiple defensive stops as the heartbeat of his motivation. He’s continuing to grow his all-around game, fueled by something deeper than stats—this game is his calling, and he plays knowing it’s his gift from God.
Off the court, he values his peace just as much as his grind. Morning yoga and meditation help him center himself, even during games. When the emotions run high, he resets with breathwork and focus, never trying to play perfect, just playing with freedom. Family, faith, and the love of the game keep him grounded. Whether he’s hooping, playing 2K, or spending time with his girlfriend and loved ones, Marcus carries a joy that never dims.
I assess that Marcus brings more than scoring he offers trust, consistency, and maturity beyond his years. His ability to stretch the floor, lead by example, and handle pressure makes him a strong asset for college programs looking to invest in growth-minded players.
As his quickness improves and his finishing game evolves, expect Marcus to emerge as a dependable two-way guard who can rise to any challenge. He’s not chasing perfection but it's purpose, and that mindset is going to take him far. Stay tuned.
