Preston High School (WV)

Josh is a skilled three-level scorer with a hunger for competition and a relentless drive to lead. A crafty guard with a smooth handle and a lethal shooting touch, Josh can freeze defenders off the dribble and hit shots from anywhere on the floor. Whether he’s pulling up from deep, getting to his midrange spots, or slicing through traffic to finish at the rim, his scoring ability keeps pressure on the defense at all times. He brings energy, vocal leadership, and pride to both ends of the floor, taking on the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s best player and making it personal.

This summer, Josh averaged 11.2 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game in Puma Circuit action. He went from being a role player during the high school season to the go-to guy, embracing that role as a primary option and emerging as a key voice and leader. The biggest improvement in his game was his confidence. His growth as a playmaker, decision-maker, and scorer has been fueled by his nonstop work ethic and daily grind in the gym. His ranking has risen to #32 in West Virginia’s 2028 class, and he’s continuing to build momentum with strong showings at recruiting camps, where his natural scoring ability has drawn consistent praise.

Josh is locked in on taking his game even higher. His offseason focus includes improving his floater, becoming more mobile in the air, and increasing his vertical with the goal of becoming a consistent finisher above the rim. His ability to bring energy and play with a chip on his shoulder makes him a natural tone-setter. Coaches can expect full effort, strong communication, and a player who won’t back down from any assignment. Offensively, he’s a problem at all three levels, and defensively, he’s a pesky on-ball defender who takes pride in shutting players down on the perimeter or the interior.

What drives Josh is the fact that he lives and breathes basketball. He’s in the gym constantly, expanding every piece of his game and preparing to lead Preston with maturity and fire. When facing adversity, he relies on his work, lifts up his teammates, and focuses on doing his job to help them win. The best coaching advice he’s ever received is, "What you put into the game is exactly what you ’ll get out of it," and his output continues to grow.

I assess that Josh is a dynamic scorer and competitive two-way guard with leadership instincts and next-level effort. His ability to play fast, stay composed, and score efficiently across all three levels makes him a standout in his class and a player college coaches need to track.

With his confidence growing, his role expanding, and his work ethic nonstop, Josh is poised for a breakout year. Expect him to continue rising in the rankings, earning bigger minutes, and proving he’s more than just a scorer; he’s a complete guard and a team-first competitor. Stay tuned.
