Gholizadeh is a fierce and athletic Guard who is very strong getting to the rim. He has hops for days, and is nasty with a slick pull up from mid range. He is a master of coming off the screen and he nicely sets up his teammates with high level passing. Not only can he score, but he is an absolute terror under the boards, as well as being a stingy defender.
This past season, he averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game while learning to be that leader that his team needed. He felt in the past, he had kids getting more pt than he did, and that motivated him to become the leader he has become. He is a leader his coaches and teammates can count on to be that floor General/Coach that every team needs.
He wants to be one of the best defenders and passers in the entire state, and he has been putting in the work to accomplish both of those goals. He is eager to showcase his talent, and show people that he can be consistent, game after game. He played AAU for WV Hustle for one tournament, and he had 37 points in 3 games, as well as leading each game in assists. He also played masterfully on defense. His biggest goal for the upcoming year is to join a Shoe Circuit team and dominate as much as possible.
He is very strong in his faith and he believes that God has always done amazing work in his life. He feels very grateful just to be able to play the game that he loves so much. What drives him the most is his tight relationship with both his Mom and his sister. When things feel off during a game, he will close his eyes, take a deep breath and say a quick prayer. That has never failed him yet! What sets this kid apart from others is absolutely his relentless work ethic. He lives in the gym, and in the weight room. He fully understands the importance that strength plays in basketball.
His goal is to play basketball at the next level, and if he doesn’t start out on the D1 level, his goal will be to show what he can do on a smaller level and then transfer to a D1 school.
My personal assessment right now is he is a rock solid D2 level player with a TON of future potential. That work ethic he has simply can not be taught. I can’t wait to watch this young man’s future unfold!
