Nick didn’t just have a season; he went on a full takeover run that carried his squad all the way to the 3A State Championship game, stacking a District title, a Region title, and finishing as State Runner-Up. That kind of run doesn’t happen by accident. It was fueled by something deeper than wins. The memory of that first-round loss the year before never left him, and that feeling stayed with him every step of the way. He made a promise to himself that he would never feel that again, and that edge showed up in every workout, every practice, and every game all season long.

It didn’t start smoothly either. Early in the season, they hit a stretch where things felt off. Losses stacked up, chemistry wasn’t fully there, and the team wasn’t completely on the same page. Instead of letting that break them, it exposed what needed to change. Once they locked in, committed to the same goal, and made the decision to outwork every team they faced, everything flipped. From that point on, the energy, effort, and connection were different, and it carried them through the rest of the season.

Nick’s improvement showed in how he expanded his game. Crossing 1500 career points wasn’t just about scoring; it was about evolving. He became a more complete shooter, added a strong middy, and learned how to move without the ball when defenses started focusing on him. He trusted his teammates, took what the game gave him, and still found ways to produce at a high level every night.

When the postseason came, he took it even further. He averaged a double-double and shifted his mindset to doing whatever it took to win. Every rebound, every loose ball, and every possession mattered. That approach opened everything up, and once he got rolling, the scoring came naturally while his overall impact became impossible to ignore.

The achievements followed, and they were serious. District Player of the Year, District Tournament MVP, Region Tournament MVP, All-State, 3A Mr. Basketball Finalist, and BCAT Player of the Year Finalist. Instead of feeling pressure, it made him hungrier. He knew every night he had a target on his back, and that only pushed him to stay ready and keep working.

That matchup with Upperman and Ty Cobb had all eyes on it, and he stepped into it knowing it would be a battle. Two strong teams fighting for a shot at the title. When the buzzer sounded and they secured the win, it wasn’t just about advancing, but proving they belonged and showing that all the doubt surrounding them didn’t matter.

The championship game against Alcoa didn’t end how they wanted, but it didn’t take away from what they built. If anything, it lit another fire. It showed how close they were and what it takes to get back. That feeling is now fuel, and the mindset is already locked in on returning and finishing it the right way.

As the season grew, so did his leadership. He became the voice his team needed, someone teammates trusted and leaned on. He stepped into that role fully, on and off the court, and that presence played a major part in how far they were able to go.

Now it’s straight into AAU with Tennessee Impact 3SSB, where he’s continuing to prove himself against top competition. He’s playing with a different mindset, showing he can impact the game on both ends, not just as a scorer but as a defender and all-around player who can compete with anyone in the country.

Looking ahead, the focus stays on getting better every day, finding the right college fit, and making the most of every opportunity. Through it all, he stays grounded in his faith, giving thanks to God for everything he’s been given and understanding that basketball is important, but it doesn’t define who he is.

I assess that Nick is a versatile and high-impact player who brings scoring, rebounding, and strong competitiveness to the floor. His ability to elevate his game in big moments and contribute in multiple areas makes him a valuable piece for any team, while his growth as a leader shows maturity and a clear understanding of winning basketball.

Nick’s postseason performance and continued development show a player ready to take the next step. His combination of production, mindset, and versatility gives him a strong foundation.
