DJ is a stretch forward with grit, intelligence, and an unselfish drive that powers his entire team. He thrives off energy plays such as taking charges, crashing the boards, and doing the hard work that does not always show up on the stat sheet but helps win games. A fierce rebounder and reliable midrange scorer, he plays with an old-school toughness that blends beautifully with his modern versatility. His leadership and communication lift everyone around him, and a nonstop motor. Every huddle, every possession, and every loose ball finds DJ in the middle of the action, setting the tone.
This past season, DJ averaged 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game, marking a strong return from adversity after knee surgery the summer before. Coming back stronger, he found new confidence and rhythm through his team’s belief in him. His biggest improvement has been his shooting consistency, which now adds a dangerous layer to his game. Focused on tightening his handle and improving his speed, he is determined to become even more dynamic heading into his senior year. His AAU season goals focused on expanding his floor game and improving court vision, which he accomplished with noticeable growth and maturity.
What fires DJ up are the gritty moments, such as charges, defensive stops, and contagious team energy. When facing adversity, he smiles, claps, and adjusts, showing the kind of poise that defines real leaders. His best advice came from his coaches: “Don’t compare yourself to anyone else but you the day before.” That mindset fuels his hunger and consistency.
Off the court, DJ enjoys building Legos, collecting shoes, and listening to music. Family plays a major role in his life. His girlfriend has been a steady source of support, helping him stay positive through tough stretches. His stepmom has been key in breaking down film and promoting his game, while his parents have been his foundation through everything. His brothers taught him what tough love means, lessons that built his resilience and edge.
I assess that DJ’s high-effort, high-IQ game translates beautifully to the college level. Coaches will value his ability to defend multiple positions, stretch the floor, and bring consistent leadership both vocally and through action. His unselfish approach and relentless motor make him the kind of player who changes team culture the moment he joins a program.
Expect DJ to have a statement senior season. With his confidence rising and his physical tools back at full strength, he is ready to become one of the toughest two-way players in his district. His leadership, hustle, and growth mindset will carry him far beyond high school basketball. He represents the definition of a difference maker built on heart, hard work, and faith in the grind. Stay tuned.
