Maddux is a two-way gem who plays the game with confidence, control, and real bite. He can really bring the rain from deep, getting his shot off smoothly no matter the pressure, but his impact does not stop there. He plays with high energy, sharp instincts, and a competitive edge that shows up on both ends. Scrappy by nature, he uses quick hands to pick pockets clean, stays active in passing lanes, and finds his way into rebounding battles despite his size. He plays fast mentally, but never rushes, and that balance makes him dangerous.
Offensively, Maddux operates at his own pace. He creates space with jab steps, shot fakes, and limited dribbles, letting efficiency lead the way. He is comfortable posting up defenders his size or bigger, reading help, and making the right decision. A true team guard, he leads his squad in assists and takes pride in creating open looks for teammates, dropping sweet dimes when defenses overcommit. His three-point shot is his biggest weapon, and it stretches defenses the moment he crosses half-court.
Maddux is averaging 12.5 points, 3 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game, showing balance across the board. His biggest improvement from last season has been consistency. A year ago, the highs were high, but the nights varied. This season, he has found steady production while still delivering breakout performances, highlighted by a 26-point game with 5 rebounds and 6 made threes in a win over Bangor. That combination of reliability and explosion is what separates him right now.
Defensively, he has taken a clear step forward both on and off the ball, using effort, anticipation, and energy to disrupt opposing guards. He continues to work on tightening his on-ball defense and expanding his midrange game, focused on becoming a more complete all-around player. His goals this season are to earn all-conference honors and help lead his team to a winning record.
What fires Maddux up most is momentum. Few things fuel him more than capping a scoring run with a three-pointer that forces the opposing bench to burn a timeout. When facing adversity, he trusts his work. Confidence, for him, is built long before the moment arrives, earned through months of preparation, not seconds of emotion. He remains open and grateful for opportunities at any level of college basketball, driven by growth and competition.
Maddux brings shooting ability, energy, and two-way competitiveness to a college program. His ability to stretch the floor, create for others, and generate defensive activity adds value beyond the box score, especially in lineups that need pace control and momentum swings.
Moving forward, Maddux’s continued development as a defender and midrange scorer will raise his ceiling. With his confidence rooted in preparation and his consistency rising, he is poised to be a guard who will keep expanding his impact and earning opportunities as he moves toward the next level. Stay tuned.
