Cochran is a versatile big man, who is an absolute terror with his shot blocking. However, he can also slide out and make it rain from 3 point land. He is double-double machine that just loves to compete. He literally takes playing as a personal challenge. He is a nightmare  in the paint on both ends of the floor. You want to talk about a fierce rim protector? Check him out!  He easily is able to use his size and strength to impose his will. Word of advice? DO NOT LET HIM SHOOT THE THREE, TRUST ME.  He also has slick handles and he is able to attack off the bounce without doing too much dribbling.

One thing he mentioned to me was he missed a game winning put back against Ravenwood, which is his team’s biggest rival. He assured me that will never happen again.  He had to sit there and watch his biggest rival celebrating, knowing that if he put the ball in the net, that wouldn’t ever have happened. His goals for this coming season, are to be All District First team or better, and for his team to make a state run.

This high school offseason, he played for the Nashville Stars Club 15u.  He put in a tremendous amount of work to become a better shooter off the dribble, as well as try to improve his ball handling.  And folks, he did that in fantastic fashion. His team won their 2nd championship in a row.

His brother was a fantastic player in his own right, so of course people can’t help but to compare the two. People will automatically assume the little brother will never be what the big brother was, and Cochran is eager to show people how very wrong that assumption is.

When things aren’t going his way during a game, he is able to take a deep breath and focus. He fully understands that no matter how good of a player that you are, some nights the ball just isn’t going in the net. However, you have to have short term memory.

When asked what a coach can expect from him, he said “I’m coachable and I don’t rattle when things are getting tough.  I love to be called on when a score is needed. I am a leader who will always give 110% and I am a team player. If a team thinks about doubling me, I will find the open man and dish him the rock.”

His dream is to play D1 ball. My personal assessment is if he continues on the pace is at, he will not only be a D1 talent, but a D1 PROBLEM. This kid is extremely gifted, works hard, and has both the size and versatility that every coach dreams of. I will be keeping a very close eye on him.
