Johnson is a dynamic, lightning fast, scoring machine. He absolutely punishes defenders, who scores at will, wherever and whenever he wants. Simply put, defenders just aren't fast enough to stay in front of him off the bounce. He also possesses a silky smooth touch from long range to match that speed that always keeps a defender going backwards on their heels. Pick your poison!

He loves to fuel the transition game which prevents the defense from really being able to set up fast enough. He is explosive, jumping the passing lanes, making the steal and then he is off to the races. He is a defensive stud not who  not only picks pockets, but he is a solid shot blocker as well. Finally, he delivers timely passes, which make him the total package. He is every coach's dream.

This past season was massive for Johnson, as he was just flat out dominant. He averaged 23.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2 blocks per game. Those numbers earned him All OVC First Team and an All Ohio Special Mention, all while joining the 1000 point club. He finished the year with 1217 total points. He said his team lost a few very close games last season, and he really impressed me by him not pointing the finger.  He put it on himself, and said he could have played better. His biggest goal is to lead his team to a deep playoff run, with the ultimate goal being a state championship. He is going to give it his absolute all to close out his career as Dawson Bryant’s all time scoring leader.

Playing AAU for the Ohio Force Owen, he played in several large tournaments, against elite competition, in front of college coaches. He was able to really improve his 3 point percentage to over 40%, while also building a strong team chemistry, which showed by him having 5 assists per game. Watching him on the court, you will notice a positive, respectful leader to his teammates, coaches, refs and opposing players.

This kid just absolutely loves to compete and he hates to lose. He said he fully understands that he can’t control everything, but he can control the effort that he puts in.

When asked what a coach can expect from him, he said “I am a leader who can make adjustments on the fly. I am able to process and perform many different concepts quickly, which allows me to excel in all facets of the game.”  This kid puts in a ton of work, and he is simply a natural born leader, who is able to motivate and bring the best out of his teammates.

He said he sees himself playing at a D2 or D3 school, because he likes a smaller setting and he feels it would be the best fit for him. My personal assessment is this kid is a D1 talent without a doubt, and he will thrive at the next level, wherever he chooses to play. He will bring tremendous value and make an instant impact for any college program. He has all the intangibles that simply can’t be taught. He has heart, hustle and energy. It’s going to be fun watching him in his final season, which I have a strong feeling will be his best yet. Get your popcorn ready!
