"Fuel to the Fire"

Joey Hollyer,

@Jhollyer26,

6’0, 165lbs, Class of 2027

Joey Hollyer is a dynamic combo guard who plays the game in full attack mode from the opening tip. He is electric off the bounce, exploding downhill with force and balance to finish strong at the rim, even through contact. That high motor never shuts off. He brings relentless energy every possession, keeping constant pressure on the defense while attacking gaps with confidence. As a three-level scorer, he can score it in bunches, and when defenders sag or hesitate, his silky smooth rainmaker from deep makes them pay. From the guard spot, he mixes it up on the glass like a forward, rebounding with toughness and instincts, while also bringing strong on-ball defense and making the right pass when the moment calls for it.

Last week showed exactly how impactful Joey is on winning basketball. During a 2–0 stretch that earned him Warriors of the Week honors, he stacked production across the board with 40 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals, leaving his mark on both ends of the floor. That performance sits on top of a huge jump from last season to this one. After averaging 5.2 points, 1.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.4 blocks last year, Joey has elevated his game to 15.7 points, 2.6 assists, 7.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks this season. The growth is real, and it shows up possession after possession.

Joey describes himself as an all-around player who scores the ball and defends at a high level, with his biggest strength being his ability to get to the basket and finish. His focus remains locked in on continuing to build his handle and pushing his three-point shot to another level. Team success drives him. His goals this season are winning the conference and winning districts, and next season, he is eager to lead a young group and set the tone from day one.

What fuels Joey during games is delivering in big moments, hitting clutch shots, and making strong defensive plays that shift momentum. When facing adversity, he stays composed and calm, trusting his work and continuing to play the right way without letting the moment speed him up. As of now, there are no offers, but the production, confidence, and edge are undeniable for anyone paying attention.

I assess that Joey brings a college program a guard who applies constant pressure with his downhill attack, rebounds well above his size, and competes defensively every possession. His energy, toughness, and ability to impact multiple areas of the game allow him to impact winning without needing the ball in his hands at all times.

Moving forward, Joey continues to rise as a scorer, competitor, and leader. With his confidence sky-high and his skill development clearly progressing, expect continued growth from a guard who embraces responsibility and consistently shows up when games demand it. Stay tuned.
