5’11, Class of 2028

Chaparral HS, CO

Champ is a true point guard in every sense of the word, smart, unselfish, and clutch when it matters most. With the drive of a rising star, he runs the show with high IQ, elite pace, and a calm presence under pressure. Champ can deliver some dazzling dimes, keeps the tempo under control, and has the ability to score efficiently when his team needs a spark. He doesn’t force, ;e reads, reacts, and delivers. The comparisons to Steve Nash aren’t just talk. He’s a floor leader with a deep understanding of the game, making plays for others while always being a threat to create for himself.

This past season, Champ averaged 8 points, 3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting a blistering 45% from deep and 52% overall from the field, earning Honorable Mention in the tough Continental League as a freshman. What separates him is how smooth and confident his game already is. He improved his pace and maturity, learning when to slow it down and when to push the break. His understanding of spacing and timing makes him a nightmare for defenders. And when the lights are bright, he shows up big. At Colorado Live, he dropped 18 points in a packed-house thriller against Rangeview, following a 21-point performance the day before. His presence in the backcourt helped lead Chaparral to a gritty 71-68 win in one of the most electric games of the event.

Champ plays AAU for Mountain Stars UAA, and they’ve been unstoppable and rolling through the circuit at 8-0. But for him, it’s not just about winning games. It’s about redemption. Losing in the Coliseum last season still burns, and that feeling fuels his workouts, drives his focus, and keeps him pushing. When facing adversity, he studies the mistake, drills it, and doesn’t let it slide twice. His approach is serious, and his motivation runs deep.

The best advice he’s received is simple but powerful: “Be great in the little things so the big things become easy.” That mindset shows in how he handles every rep, every play, and every possession. Off the court, he’s humble, grateful, and locked in on becoming the best version of himself—on and off the floor.

I assess that Champ is a high-level guard who checks all the boxes, efficient scorer, floor leader, and decision-maker. His shooting percentages and control of the offense stand out at any level. Add in his defensive discipline and his will to win, and he becomes a coach’s dream at the point.

With his confidence, growth, and steady hand already showing this early, Champ’s future is bright. As he keeps building strength and sharpening his scoring tools, expect him to continue rising as one of the most dependable and dynamic young guards in Colorado’s 2028 class. The stage is set for a signature season that could send a strong message to everyone, he is coming for it all. Stay tuned.
