Austin is driven by a deep hunger to win and a mindset built on doing whatever it takes to control the game on both ends. The switch flips the moment he checks in, and from that point on, everything is about impact, whether that’s locking down the opposing team’s best player, making the right read offensively, or stepping up in the moments that decide games. That DOGG mentality on defense defines him, and when he takes on a matchup, the goal is to disrupt everything and make every possession a battle.
What truly separated him this season was the improvement in his shooting and overall efficiency, turning himself into a serious three-level scoring threat while staying disciplined within the flow of the game. He put together a huge junior year, averaging 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.1 steals, and 2.9 deflections per game while shooting 59.6% from the field, 48.2% from three, and posting a blistering 67.2 eFG%. Those numbers show not just skill, but a deeper understanding of how to read defenses and make the right decision every time down the floor. Instead of forcing shots, he learned to trust what the defense gives him, attacking when lanes open, raining in shots when space is there, and creating opportunities for teammates when defenses collapse. That balance between scoring and playmaking gave him a level of control that elevated his entire game. His impact showed up loud in the Fox River Conference too, finishing 7th in scoring and 1st in steals per game, proving he was just as disruptive defensively as he was dangerous offensively.
Adversity tested him early and stayed with him throughout the season, as a knee injury in the second game followed by another setback weeks later forced him to battle through physical pain and mental frustration. Playing the entire year with a brace while still producing at a high level speaks to a toughness that goes beyond talent. Instead of letting it slow him down, he stayed locked in, pushed through the low moments, and came out stronger with a deeper understanding of what it takes to compete through adversity.
Playing alongside his twin adds another layer that most players never experience, creating a natural connection built on trust, chemistry, and instinct. That bond shows up every possession, with both players knowing where the other will be and having complete confidence in each other to make winning plays. That double-trouble dynamic puts constant pressure on opponents and raises the level of play for everyone around them.
Behind the scenes, the work put in by the entire team laid the foundation for something special, building a culture focused on effort, consistency, and competing every night. That commitment translated into back-to-back regional championships for the first time in school history, regional titles in 3 of the last 4 years, and back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in school history. Austin’s individual year matched that team's success as he earned 1st Team All-Conference honors, made the All-Defensive Team, and was named to the WBCA All-Academic Team. Those honors show the full picture of who he is, a player who brings production, toughness, discipline, and winning habits every time he steps on the floor.
When postseason play arrived, the mindset became even sharper, understanding that every game carried weight and every possession could decide the outcome. Austin elevated by focusing on doing whatever the team needed, whether that meant making a big shot, getting a stop, or making the extra play that doesn’t always show up in the box score. That approach helped secure another regional title and reinforced his value as a player who impacts winning in multiple ways.
That same momentum carried into AAU play, where he immediately showed that his growth was real and sustainable. At the Prep Hoops Midwest Showdown, he helped lead Team 1848 to an 83-63 win over DFTP Elite NXTPRO with more strong team basketball, continuing to prove that the leap he made during the school season was no fluke. He has embraced the rising attention and used it as motivation to keep pushing forward. His focus remains on continuing to develop, building on everything he showed this year, and proving that his climb in the Wisconsin rankings is no joke.
What sets Austin apart is his commitment to being a complete player, bringing effort, toughness, and consistency on both ends of the floor in a way that directly impacts winning. He is not chasing moments; he is building them through preparation, discipline, and a relentless approach to the game.
I assess that Austin is a two-way guard who brings scoring efficiency, defensive intensity, and a strong competitive edge that impacts the game in multiple ways. His ability to shoot at a high level while leading his conference in steals shows just how complete his impact really is. He brings winning habits, toughness, and reliability that make him a valuable presence every night.
As he continues to build strength and maintain his consistency, Austin has the tools to become a high-level contributor at the next level. His feel for the game, decision-making, and commitment to playing both ends position him to keep rising. With the way his offensive game has expanded and his defensive mindset remains locked in, he projects as a guard who can help a college program win in more than one way. Stay tuned.
