DJ Wheeler @Djwheeler04 ,5'7, 135lbs, class of 25, Atkins High School is another fierce and scrappy little warrior. This gem has the heart of 7ft giant. Fearless getting to the rim and finishing strong over bigger players with ease. DJ is extremely fast and causes mismatches even for a guard. But DJ can knock down the three but his strength is getting to and finishing at the rim. DJ loves the pass the rock as well. Teammates have to stay alert when DJ is running the show cause with a high offensive IQ he threads the needle in a flash. DJ is an inside out playmaker. DJ averaged 22.7pts and 5ast. What wasn't noted was his defensive energy and grit. With his speed and quick hands he got a lot of steals and deflections. His play earned the the #27 ranking for a point guard in NC. Last season DJ averaged 15points and 6 assists. DJ has his goal to win the max preps 2023 player of year while raising his assist average to 8 per game.while being a huge part of winning the conference championship and contender for a state championship run. DJ is a D2 level player just because of his speed and finishing ability. DJ can truly facilitate an offense with best out there delivering whatever his team needs to do together that done. He brings energy, toughness and fire every time out. DJ has an intense work ethic and determination to continue to get better with every single minute of every game. Can't teach that , it's just in him.
