He plays with pace without getting rushed, using that control to read what's happening and make smart decisions with the ball in his hands. Slade can finish strong at the rim, rise into his jumper with confidence, and become a scoring threat from different spots on the floor. What makes his offensive game even more dangerous is his ability to lead while producing because he wants the basketball when his team needs direction and trusts himself to make the right play.

Slade closed his school season with strong all-around production, averaging 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists over his final five games. Those numbers show how much he can bring beyond scoring because he was hitting the boards, creating baskets for teammates, and helping guide his team during tough stretches. His ability to stay composed gives him a chance to settle things when a game starts moving too fast, while his scoring touch can provide an answer when his team needs a basket. That combination helped Slade earn Second Team All-District honors while becoming a leader his teammates could lean on.

The AAU season gave Slade another chance to show the versatility in his game as he averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists through seven games in Bryan before putting together 14 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists per game during a 3-1 weekend in Dallas. Instead of being satisfied with those performances, Slade sees them as fuel for what he wants to accomplish this season. He wants to get stronger and faster while elevating his game so his production stays efficient from start to finish, with helping lead his team into the playoffs high on his list.

One of the biggest improvements Slade has made since last season has come with his ability to create for others while becoming a stronger defender. He has learned how to use the attention he draws to find teammates and create good looks instead of forcing his own offense. That growth has added another weapon to a combo guard who already takes pride in doing whatever the game calls for, giving him another way to impact possessions when defenses try to slow his scoring.
