Kipton Neighbors brings an electric mix of speed, power, physicality, and versatility to Gilmer High School, where the 3-star standout can impact a football game as a receiver, runner, safety, or outside linebacker. A laser-timed 4.55 in the 40 gives him the wheels to create big plays, but there's a fierce side to his game that quickly becomes impossible to miss because Kipton doesn't shy away from contact, he goes looking for it. That combination makes him dangerous with the football and punishing without it, giving his team a dynamic weapon who can change what is happening from either side of the ball.

Through four games this season, Kipton has already produced 177 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns while adding 241 receiving yards and 2 more scores through the air. His plan to build on that production is to stay consistent, work every day, and keep elevating his game while making plays that help Gilmer win. The numbers show the explosive ability, but his focus is tied to the team and becoming someone his coaches and teammates know they can count on whenever the ball is snapped.

That mindset has become an important part of Kipton’s growth after a monster season in which he finished with 1,333 rushing yards, 904 passing yards, 303 receiving yards, and 29 total touchdowns. His biggest improvement since then hasn't been tied to one athletic skill because he believes leadership has taken the biggest jump. Kipton has also developed a stronger understanding of his positions and the new plays being added, allowing him to play with more knowledge while still bringing the same physical edge that's made him such a nightmare matchup.

What separates Kipton starts with how many different ways he can help his team, but it goes much deeper than lining up at several spots. He competes hard, embraces the physical side of football, and is willing to handle whatever his team needs from him. Coaches can expect him to play hard and lead every snap, whether he's hunting yards with the football, working as a target in the passing game, or attacking from the defensive side. His biggest football memories are connected to helping his team win, making big plays in important games, and earning trust from the people beside him. Challenges and setbacks have tested that approach along the way, teaching him the value of discipline and showing him that difficult moments can't become a reason to stop working.

The offseason became another chance for Kipton to sharpen every area of his game while building the trust he values so much. His goals for the rest of the season are to continue his development, lead by example and do everything he can to help his reach its team goals. Those priorities match the way he approaches football because individual production matters, but winning and becoming a stronger leader bring even greater meaning to him.

Kipton also brings a mental side to the field that works hand in hand with his athletic gifts. Before the snap, he studies alignment and pays attention to what the opposing team is showing, giving him clues that can help him react quickly once the play begins. Then the physical side takes over because Kipton wants to set the tone with the way he plays and give Gilmer an advantage on every snap. There's no hesitation in that approach because contact is something he enjoys, and his combination of speed and power allows him to bring serious force whether he's delivering the hit or fighting through one.

Recruiting attention has followed, as Kipton has collected 12 DI offers, with programs seeing potential in his ability as an athlete and receiver. Football is his passion, but his athletic range stretches into track and field as well, where he recently took on the decathlon despite having only one competition in the event and no formal training specifically for it. Competing in an event that tests sprinting, jumping, throwing, and endurance adds another layer to what makes Kipton such a gifted athlete, especially with so much room left for him to develop once specific training becomes part of the equation.

THE NEIGHBORS FAMILY — BUILT TO COMPETE

The athletic roots behind Kipton run deep because the Neighbors family has built a powerful tradition through competition, discipline, sacrifice, and a belief that talent means little without the work to match it. His mother competed in college basketball, softball and track, while his father played college football and baseball, creating a home where competing at a high level has long been part of the family story. Their children have taken different roads through sports, yet each has added another chapter to a family name that continues showing up in major athletic settings.

Tyson Neighbors turned his baseball talent into a decorated run at Kansas State, becoming a seven-time All-American before earning the chance to represent Team USA. Professional baseball followed when the San Diego Padres selected him in the 2023 MLB Draft, and his journey later took him into the Baltimore Orioles organization. His path gave the family another example of what can happen when ability meets years of dedication.

Jacelyn Neighbors made her own mark in track and field, earning a full scholarship to the University of Oklahoma as a pole vaulter. While still a high school junior, she cleared 14 feet, a mark that placed her No. 1 nationally at the time and eventually No. 3 all-time in Oklahoma history. Tierany Neighbors continued the collegiate tradition by earning a full scholarship to the University of Illinois for track and field, adding another major accomplishment to an already loaded family athletic history.

Now Kipton is writing his own chapter through football and track while creating an identity that belongs completely to him. He has grown up with examples of what high-level athletics demand, yet his path is being shaped by his own physical playing style, competitive drive, and desire to become a leader. His teammates and family fuel his fire, and his desire to continue developing comes from wanting to be someone others can trust both on and off the field.

Different sports have taken the Neighbors family in different directions, from college basketball, softball, football, and baseball to elite pole vaulting, collegiate track, Team USA, and professional baseball. Kipton now has his chance to add his own story to that history, and football gives him a place to unleash the fierce power, electric speed, and versatility that have already brought major recruiting attention his way.

I assess that Kipton has the athletic makeup to create problems because his versatility gives coaches freedom to use him in creative ways without forcing his game into one narrow role. He changes direction well for a bigger athlete, has the speed to separate once he gets into the open field, and brings natural strength that shows when a play turns into a battle. There's also value in how comfortable he looks operating in different situations, which can make him difficult for opponents to prepare for when his assignment changes from one series to another.
