Klein Oak HS, TX

Matthew is a smooth stretch wing who brings confidence, energy, and a lethal outside shot to the floor. He connected on 38% from three last season, giving him a valuable weapon as a shooter, while also showing himself to be a strong rebounder and an aggressive defender. His instincts on both ends of the floor and his ability to see the game clearly allow him to contribute in ways that elevate his teammates. Coaches can count on him to play the game the right way, defend, knock down shots, and communicate effectively on the court.

This past season, Matthew averaged 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. His confidence has grown, and he has focused on improving his ball-handling and leadership. His shot has also improved, becoming more consistent and dependable. While he didn’t play AAU this past summer due to injury, he gained valuable experience attending camps, and he is applying what he learned there to his game. Looking ahead, he’s ready to play heavy minutes, help his team win, and continue building on what he’s worked on.

What fires Matthew up most are the big stops and the energy of talking on defense. He thrives in those moments that don’t always show up on the stat sheet, embracing the challenge of leading, applying himself fully, and setting the tone for his team. He describes his game as fundamental and versatile, with the ability to stretch the floor, defend multiple positions, and stay active in every possession.

The best advice he’s received is, "Put your soul into what you do and never be complacent". That mentality has fueled his growth on the court and will continue to guide him as he pushes for the next level. Off the floor, Matthew enjoys taking care of his body, relaxing, and watching movies.

I assess that Matthew’s size, shooting ability, and defensive instincts give him the tools to fit into a system where spacing and energy matter. His ability to stretch the floor while also rebounding and defending allows him to bring balance to both ends of the court. A coach can trust him to play with effort, communicate, and impact the game beyond just scoring.

Looking forward, Matthew is poised to become a steady contributor who can be even more valuable as his confidence and leadership continue to grow. His ability to mix shooting with defensive effort positions him as a wing who can make a difference in multiple ways. With continued development, he has the potential to grow into a versatile player that programs can rely on for minutes, production, and leadership. Determined to make a statement this upcoming season and earn his way to the next level, stay tuned for a signature senior season.
