Montez is a long, versatile big guard who brings calm confidence and control to every possession. He creates matchup problems with his size alone, but it is the skill and feel that separate him. He thrives as a catch-and-shoot threat from deep, spacing the floor and making defenses pay the moment they relax. When the ball is in his hands, he sees the floor well, creates good looks for others, and can get his own shot when the offense needs it. There is no wasted movement, no panic, but steady play, smart decisions, and an ability to impact the game in multiple ways. On the defensive end, his length, awareness, and energy allow him to guard multiple spots and disrupt rhythm without forcing the issue.
Averaging 17 points and 7 rebounds, Montez consistently fills gaps and does the work that wins games. His biggest improvement from last season has been his scoring ability, becoming more confident and assertive when opportunities present themselves. As his role continues to grow, so does his focus on developing stronger leadership, understanding that his voice, composure, and example can elevate everyone around him.
Montez plays the game with a mature approach. He stays even keeled, rarely letting emotions dictate his decisions. Nothing rattles him, nothing pulls him off game. That steady focus shows up in big moments, when others speed up and he slows the game down. When facing adversity, his motivation is deeply rooted in family, using that connection as fuel to stay locked in and push forward through any situation.
His goals are winning at Rupp Arena is the standard, and bringing that experience back again next season is the vision. Montez is wired for winning basketball, the kind that values discipline, trust, and collective effort over individual noise.
I assess that Monte offers a college program a versatile, dependable guard with size who can score, facilitate, and defend while staying within the flow of the game. His ability to space the floor, create for others, and use his length on both ends allows him to impact winning without needing constant touches. He brings balance, composure, and a team first approach that helps elevate lineups and control the pace in meaningful moments.
As his ball handling and leadership continue to grow, Montez’s game will open up even more. Expect increased confidence as a scorer, a stronger presence as a leader, and continued consistency as a two way contributor. His steady approach, size, and expanding skill set point toward a player who will keep elevating his level as the competition rises. Stay tuned.
