Garrett is all about doing whatever it takes to help his team win, and that mindset shows up on every possession. He can put points on the board when the moment calls for it, but he takes just as much pride in battling for rebounds, locking down defensively, and piling up the invisible stats that never make the highlight reel but change games. Setting hard screens, making smart clear-outs, boxing out every single time, running the floor, and outworking everyone around him are all part of his identity. Every trip down the floor is another chance to make winning plays, and his nonstop energy allows everyone around him to be better because he refuses to take possessions off.

His sophomore season at Mustang was packed with unforgettable moments. The Broncos battled all the way to the Oklahoma 6A State Championship game before heartbreak on a last-second shot, but that finish never erased what the team accomplished together. Garrett described that group as a true family, and the bond they built helped fuel one of the best seasons of his career. Individually, he earned State Tournament Top Team honors, All-District Top Team recognition, and Defensive Player of the Year while making his mark on both ends of the floor. During the state tournament, he averaged 14.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 1.0 steal, and shot a blistering 78 percent from the field, proving he could rise when the lights were brightest.

His summer with Mokan Basketball pushed him even further. Playing two EYBL sessions with the 16U squad, Garrett averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks while becoming a major part of the offense from the 4 and 5 spots. The demanding training environment in Kansas City challenged him every day, and he credits Mokan for creating a college-like atmosphere where every workout had purpose. That commitment paid off as he expanded his offensive game while growing his defensive versatility, becoming someone capable of guarding every position from one through five. All three Mokan age groups earned trips to Peach Jam, making the experience even more rewarding.

The biggest adjustment was when he moved up to the 17U team for the Las Vegas session and Peach Jam. Instead of starting and playing nearly twenty-five minutes every game, Garrett found himself coming off the bench in a completely different role. It was an unfamiliar challenge after becoming so close with the 16U squad, but rather than letting frustration take over, he embraced the opportunity to provide energy whenever his number was called. He stayed ready, brought positive plays every chance he got, and helped the 17U squad fight its way to the Elite Eight at Peach Jam. That experience reminded him that impact is never measured only by minutes because effort, attitude, and preparation always matter.

The biggest improvement in Garrett's game came with his ball handling and confidence. He became much more comfortable making plays with the basketball, attacking defenders, and trusting himself to create opportunities instead of simply finishing them. That growth has opened new doors in his game and has him focused on becoming even more difficult to defend.

Adversity came when his role changed with the 17U team, but it also became one of the most valuable lessons of his basketball journey. Sitting more than he ever had before tested his patience, yet he refused to let it change his attitude. He cheered for his teammates, stayed locked into every game, and kept himself mentally prepared so he could make the most of every second on the floor. That experience strengthened his maturity and reinforced the importance of staying ready regardless of the circumstances.

This offseason, Garrett continues putting in extra work on his ball handling, attacking the basket, and making quicker reads when double teams come his way so he can create easy opportunities for teammates. Along with countless hours of skill work, shooting, conditioning, and even more shooting, he has made strength training a major priority with the goal of adding ten to fifteen pounds of upper-body muscle. Every workout is focused on helping his team chase the one goal that slipped away last season, bringing home the Oklahoma 6A State Championship.

Behind the scenes, his work ethic never slows down because improvement never happens by accident. The gym continues to be home as he repeats skill work, shooting drills, conditioning sessions, and weight training until they become second nature. What fuels his fire is the chance to become better every day while helping his teammates reach the biggest goals possible. Individual success is appreciated, but winning alongside the people around him will always come first.

Coaches know exactly what they are getting every time Garrett steps on the court. They can expect relentless energy, complete commitment to the game plan, and a willingness to embrace whatever responsibility helps the team most. Whether that means scoring, defending, rebounding, setting screens, or doing all the little things that often go unnoticed, he attacks every assignment at full speed without hesitation.

This upcoming season, Garrett wants everyone to expect excitement every night. He plans to throw down dunks, rain in three-pointers, protect the rim with timely blocks, control the boards, and chase his goal of averaging a double-double. He understands just how difficult Oklahoma 6A basketball has become with loaded talent in multiple classes. Still, he welcomes that challenge because he believes hard work can close the gap between where he is today and where he wants to be tomorrow.

I assess that Garrett brings outstanding value because his game goes far beyond scoring. His willingness to defend every position, rebound with physicality, embrace difficult assignments, and dominate the small details gives his team a steady presence every night. As his ball-handling, confidence, and ability to create offense continue to grow, his ceiling keeps rising because he already owns the energy, toughness, and winning mentality that cannot be taught.

Garrett is moving toward becoming an even more complete two-way force. His expanding offensive bag, improved decision-making against pressure, growing versatility, and commitment to adding strength should make him even tougher to match up against this season. Combine those improvements with his relentless motor, team-first attitude, and competitive drive, and it is easy to see why he's poised to put together a special junior campaign while leading his team back into the championship hunt.
