Landon brings a blue-collar mentality every time he steps on the floor, and it shows up in every possession. He is physical, strong, relentless, and refuses to let anyone outwork him when the ball is in the air or on the floor. Whether it's diving for a loose ball, ripping down a rebound through traffic, or using active hands to blow up a passing lane, he makes his presence felt long before the stat sheet tells the story. His offensive rebounding has become one of his biggest weapons because every extra possession he creates gives his team another opportunity to score, while his defensive rebounding closes possessions and quickly flips defense into offense. Even on nights when the shot isn't falling, Landon never allows his energy to disappear. Instead, he locks in on defending, crashing the boards, creating steals, and doing every little thing that gives his team a better chance to win, proving that impact isn't measured only by points.
Last season wasn't easy with a veteran-heavy senior class limiting his opportunities, but instead of becoming frustrated, he stayed patient, stayed hungry, and stayed ready. That patience started paying off during the spring and summer as his confidence exploded along with his production. Already known as a fierce rebounder, his added strength allowed him to consistently stack double-digit rebounding performances, including back-to-back double-doubles that announced his arrival. His biggest breakthrough came in Franklin, Indiana, while playing for Hoops for Christ, where he exploded for 18 points and gobbled up 17 rebounds in a performance that perfectly captured everything he brings to the floor. When the game was on the line, he came up with a huge steal before finishing the play that forced overtime, delivering one of those winning moments that teammates never forget. Experiences like that weren't built on luck. They were built through countless hours of work, steady improvement, and believing that every opportunity deserved maximum effort, causing his confidence to grow right alongside his game.
Being a dual-sport athlete has also played a major role in shaping who Landon is as a basketball player. Balancing football and basketball demands incredible discipline, sacrifice, and toughness, but he embraces every bit of it because he knows each sport makes him stronger for the other. Football has helped build the strength that allows him to battle inside against bigger opponents, while constantly competing against outstanding athletes has elevated both his confidence and competitive edge. The weight room has become another advantage, giving him the physical tools to hold his ground, absorb contact, and win battles around the basket that often decide games.
Over the past year, Landon believes his biggest improvement has come on the defensive end, especially in the post. He has worked hard to create space, prevent opponents from sealing him underneath, and use leverage instead of simply relying on size. Even when matched up against taller opponents, he refuses to give ground because effort, toughness, and determination often outweigh inches. That fearless approach has allowed him to become much more dependable protecting the paint while continuing to anchor possessions with strong rebounding.
Adversity also played an important role in his growth. An ankle injury at the beginning of last season forced him to battle something he had never truly experienced before. Coming back wasn't just about healing physically because trusting the ankle again became just as difficult as the rehabilitation itself. Every jump and every landing carried doubt for a while, but instead of letting fear control him, he focused on getting stronger, trusting the process, and pushing through the setback. That experience taught him that obstacles are part of every athlete's journey, and the response to those moments is what ultimately defines growth.
His work hasn't slowed down now that the season is getting closer. Between AAU basketball and football workouts, Landon has been committed to becoming more explosive by attacking leg workouts while spending plenty of time getting up shots. Every workout has a purpose because he understands that small improvements made every day eventually become major improvements once the season begins.
The goals he's chasing are to average a double-double every night, continuing to establish himself as one of the toughest rebounders on the floor. Just as important, he wants to help lead his team on a deep postseason run with dreams of winning districts, reaching the regional championship, and earning a trip to Rupp Arena. Those aren't empty goals because they're backed by the work, consistency, and relentless effort he puts in long before game day arrives.
When coaches watch Landon compete, they won't have to wonder what they're getting because his identity never changes. They'll see maximum effort from the opening tip until the final buzzer, relentless work on the boards, physical defense, and a competitor determined to erase second-chance opportunities while creating extra ones for his own team. Every possession matters to him, and that mindset has become one of the biggest reasons his game continues to rise.
I assess that Landon's greatest value comes from everything that fuels winning basketball. His physicality, rebounding instincts, toughness, defensive intensity, active hands, and refusal to quit on plays constantly fuel momentum for his team. He embraces contact, competes with a nonstop motor, creates extra possessions on one end, eliminates them on the other, and continues producing regardless of whether the ball is going through the basket. As his offensive game continues expanding, his overall impact will become even more difficult to contain because the foundation built on energy, strength, and determination is already firmly in place.
Landon is a rising star whose growth is becoming impossible to overlook. His confidence has steadily climbed, his body has become stronger through football, his defensive game has taken a noticeable step forward, and his rebounding continues to separate him every time he steps on the floor. He brings energy that teammates feed off, embraces difficult assignments without hesitation, and consistently makes winning plays that don't always show up in highlight reels. With another year of development and the larger role waiting ahead, Landon has all the tools to turn potential into production and establish himself as one of the biggest difference-makers on the floor. Landon is just getting started. Stay tuned.
