Kwon is a dynamic, blue collar DOG who lights up both the scoreboard and the stat sheets. He has fantastic size and length, and is an absolute terror on both offense and defense. He considers himself an “athletic big guard” who can play 1-4.  He is strong ball handler and a triple threat scoring machine who possesses a velvety smooth touch from three point land. He thrives when attacking the lane and he simply flies over defenders in heavy traffic. He fiercely finishes at the rim even through intense contact.

This kid just flat out makes his teammates better and he is always creating opportunities for them. He exposes any defender trying to guard him, which 99% of the time is a total  mismatch. He excels in the post with his immense strength and freaky athleticism. He has a very high game IQ and he reads the floor exceptionally well. He can make any shot or he can dish out a sweet pass.

This past season he averaged 10+ points, 6+ rebounds, and 4+ assists per game while shooting 60% from 2pt range and 40% from 3 point land. In HS Summer Ball, he elevated his game even further averaging 18. 7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. This past season, his high school team lost in the first round of the state tournament, and this left him with a very bad taste in his mouth. He has worked extremely hard all offseason to make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself. His personal goals for this upcoming season is to win GSL MVP, and give it his all to help his team win league, districts, and state. He will be asked to be a leader now more than ever, as he is the only starting senior coming back on a team full of all underclassmen.

Most people say this, but watching him play, you quickly will notice that he just flat out hates to lose. He loves to silence all the doubters and haters who told him what he couldn’t do and told him he wasn’t good enough. Now, he just laughs and smiles at the sounds of crickets! You can tell he just absolutely loves the game, and he never has as much fun as he does when he is out there on the court playing.

He has an innate ability to remain calm when things aren’t going his way, or his team’s way during a game. He fully understands that sometimes the ball just isn’t going in, but by getting angry and frustrated, that isn’t going to fix anything, that will only compound the problem. He simply takes a deep breath and focuses on the task at hand, never letting the moment get bigger than it actually is. As a Christian with strong faith, he firmly believes that everything is in God's hands and that God has a plan and purpose for his life.

When asked what a coach can expect from him, he said “I will always be the hardest worker in the gym. I learn quickly and can adapt. I am extremely coachable. I listen and I can take constructive criticism and fix things on the fly.”  That is the very definition of being a “student of the game folks!”

His dream is to play on the D1 level, but he will be happy as long as he plays in college, regardless of Division level. My personal assessment is that Kwon has a versatile skill set that really translates well into the college game. He has the size, strength and athletic ability to thrive at the next level. He has a very high ceiling, and I am very excited to see how his senior year unfolds!
