Tyler is one of the nastiest defensive disruptors in the state. He has an incredible defensive IQ and a nose for the ball. Tyler is relentless in his pursuit to attack the ball. He is determined to blow up his opponent with his full force and power to bring the run to a crushing end instantly. What sets Tyler apart from many other linebackers is his football intelligence. It helps him see and adjust quickly to whatever he instinctively recognizes with his pre-snap vision. He tries to identify the offense formation and the play they are running. Then relate back to his training as he anticipates cuts before they can make them. If there is a passing play he sniffs it out and the play and player are done.
This past season Tyler had 171 tackles (12 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 PBUs, and 1 fumble recovery) which earned him :
5A TNFCA All-State
Region 1-5A 1st Team All-Region
1st Team All-County
Tyler's biggest improvement from last year was working on his overall speed. The numbers tell the whole story of how successful all that hard work produced and his team reaped the full benefit. The most motivating thing from last year for Tyler was the loss against Powell in the playoffs and that bitter taste is why he worked so hard in the offseason to make it past where we failed last year. The mission for this season is clear and the goal is set, get that CHIP!
Tyler's biggest fuel on the field is the thought of letting his team down. Tyler's commitment to his team and helping the team win is a part of who he is with fierce team loyalty. Failing his brothers is not an option for Tyler.
Tyler handles adversity well because in the offseason he tries to always make himself uncomfortable in his training so he is ready for those moments in the games.
A coach can expect every time Tyler takes the field that he will give 100 percent effort and will get to the ball on every play. The killer inside that uniform knows exactly what his job is and no one will outwork or out-produce Tyler's effort.
Tyler sees himself playing at the D1 FCS level or D2 level but is really open to any level. He would look for a high academic with a good family atmosphere.
To players that are coming behind him, Tyler says enjoy your time, enjoy the moment, and always give 100 percent your time is coming. Just make sure when it does, you're ready.
My assessment is that Tyler is an incredible athlete with D1 instincts and IQ with a relentless motor any coach can depend on. He is a team-first stud who delivers! The future will present some amazing opportunities and he is a dominant piece to any program. Stay tuned.
