AAU: Motorcity Grizzlies

Jacob is the definition of a complete guard, versatile, dynamic, and built to compete. He’s a smooth, high-IQ scorer who can operate both on and off the ball, punish defenses in transition, and break defenders down in the half-court. He’s electric slicing to the rim, composed when pulling up, and constantly seeing the floor to create scoring opportunities for teammates. The numbers don’t lie, just tell the story of his impact, averaging 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game during the high school season. With a nonstop motor and a fierce two-way game, Jacob plays with the energy and commitment that coaches can trust in any moment.

This past season was filled with powerful growth, both individually and as a team leader. Jacob improved his shooting technique, elevating his shooting from beyond the arc, while also learning to finish strong through contact, a focus that expanded his entire offensive game. Helping lead his squad to a second-place finish at OFSAA and a provincial title was more than an accomplishment; it was fuel that inspired him. He embraced the spotlight, thrived under pressure, and built his confidence to a new level.

That fire carried into his AAU season, where he suited up for the Motorcity Grizzlies in Michigan, hungry for exposure and elite competition in the Adidas Gold West Circuit. Not only did he adjust quickly to new teammates and systems, but he also earned two Top Performer honors and averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. In the 3SGB Championship, he showed up again, posting 15.8 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while capturing MVP and All-Star honors in the Fanshawe College Tournament.

What fuels Jacob’s fire is simple: competition. He thrives in high-level matchups, accepts every challenge, and attacks each possession like it’s personal. The edge in his game comes from an inner fire to be better than he was the day before. He doesn't need trash talk or hype; he gets locked in by the sheer will to win and the demand to push himself to the limit. The best advice he's ever received is, "Everything is always earned and never given." That mentality is woven into every dive for a loose ball, every off-ball screen, and every extra pass. It’s not about shortcuts, it’s about sweat.

Jacob isn’t just a basketball standout; he’s a true multi-sport athlete who also competes at the national level in soccer with Alliance FC. Last year, his team finished 9th in Canada. Balancing both sports while keeping a steady focus in the classroom (and maintaining high-level production) speaks volumes about his maturity and discipline. He comes from a basketball-rich family; both parents played college hoops, and his older brother just committed to Carleton. The game runs deep in his blood, and that foundation continues to shape who he is as a player and person.

Next season, Jacob is hungry to build off the momentum by adding strength, tightening his handles, and becoming even more dangerous off screens and handoffs. He’s also focused on becoming a smarter decision-maker, faster off the bounce, and more efficient in high-leverage moments. He’ll be playing with a high school group he has real chemistry with, and he’s excited to lead.

Off the court and field, Jacob spends his free time with friends and family, finding peace in the moments that help him recharge and stay grounded. Because when it’s time to go again. He’s all in. Always.

I assess that Jacob’s ability to score, defend, and facilitate at a high level, while adapting to any style of play, makes him an incredibly valuable prospect. His feel for the game, size at the guard spot, and natural leadership translate well to the next level. He’s a winner, a workhorse, and the type of player that elevates everyone around him.

Expect Jacob to continue making a name far beyond Ontario. With his growing offensive bag, defensive energy, and non-stop motor, he’s moving toward being a high-impact collegiate player. He doesn’t want anything handed to him, and that’s exactly why he’ll earn everything that comes his way. Stay tuned.
