6'7.5, Class of 2029

Little Rock Central HS, AR

There is a certain value in having a player who never seems out of place no matter what the moment demands. Need a stop on the perimeter, help on the boards, a smart pass to create an easy basket, or a basket from anywhere on the floor, and Jamie has shown he can answer the call. His game is built on versatility, toughness, and trust. He takes pride in guarding all five positions, scoring from all three levels, and making the right play instead of chasing attention. While many young players focus on filling up the stat sheet, Jamie has developed a reputation for doing whatever helps his team win. That combination of basketball IQ, defensive versatility, and unselfish play has earned the trust of his coaches and teammates, and it is easy to see why his presence impacts the game in so many different ways.

His freshman season at Little Rock Central was filled with challenges, growth, and memorable moments. Stepping from middle school basketball into one of the toughest programs in Arkansas is a jump that can overwhelm young players, but Jamie embraced it head-on. He earned a starting role on a Little Rock Central team that battled its way to the 6A State Championship game and finished as state runner-up. Averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds while helping one of the state's premier programs make a deep postseason run was impressive enough, but doing it as a freshman made the accomplishment even bigger. The moment that stands out in his memory was taking the floor as a starter in the 6A title game. That experience provided a glimpse of what high-level basketball feels like and fueled an even greater hunger to return next season and finish the job. Along the way, he earned recognition as a member of the 6A Underclassmen of the Year Team and was named to the Arkansas All Preps Super 6 for the upcoming season, honors that show the impact he was already making against older players.

The year gave more than just wins and awards. Jamie traveled across the country with his teammates, competing against talented opponents and experiencing places he never imagined basketball would take him. One of the highlights was traveling to Alaska, an experience that reminded him of how powerful the game can be at opening doors and creating unforgettable memories. Every trip, every practice, and every game became part of a learning process that elevated his development both on and off the floor. By the end of the season, he was no longer just a freshman trying to find his footing. He was becoming a player counted on to contribute in meaningful moments.

That growth has continued throughout the AAU season with the Arkansas Hawks on the adidas 3SSB circuit. Competing against some of the top talent in the country has allowed Jamie to showcase more layers of his game while continuing to prove he belongs on the biggest stages. He is averaging 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal per game while helping the Hawks battle through a demanding national schedule. His strong play earned him 1st Team All Session, another sign that his game continues to rise. More importantly, he feels this summer has allowed him to display more leadership, confidence, and overall versatility. Whether scoring, defending, rebounding, or creating opportunities for teammates, Jamie has continued expanding his impact while preparing for championship play later this summer.

The biggest improvement in his game hasn't come from a new move or a new skill, but his confidence has become one of the driving forces behind his development. Trusting the countless hours spent in the gym, believing in the process, and embracing the vision laid out by Coach Lewis have all helped unlock another level. The work has always been there, but now the confidence is matching the preparation. That combination has allowed him to play freer, attack challenges with conviction, and trust himself in big moments. Being called an "everyday guy" by his coach is a badge of honor because it reflects the consistency and commitment he brings to the grind.

The road hasn't been without obstacles. Balancing high school academics, daily workouts, practices, travel, and the expectations that come with competing at a high level demanded maturity beyond his years. Early-morning workouts before school, late nights spent completing assignments, and constant travel created a schedule that would test anyone. Fortunately, strong support from home helped him stay on track. With a father who serves as a school administrator and made sure academics remained a priority, Jamie learned the importance of discipline, accountability, and handling responsibilities the right way. Looking back, he believes the experience helped him grow up quickly and prepared him for the demands of chasing big goals.

One of the most revealing things about Jamie is the way he approaches competition. Rankings, reputations, and social media attention don't change his mindset. Whether the opponent is nationally known or completely overlooked, his approach remains the same. Play hard, accept the challenge, and compete. That mentality was on display when he matched up against highly ranked players and focused solely on making life difficult for whoever stood across from him. Instead of being intimidated by talent, he welcomes the opportunity to measure himself against it. That mindset is often what separates good players from players who continue climbing.

Heading into the upcoming season, Jamie is determined to help Little Rock Central take the final step and bring home a state championship. The experience gained during his freshman year, combined with a strong summer on the national circuit, has positioned him for an even larger role. His focus remains centered on improving every area of his game while continuing to become a stronger leader and more complete player.

Coaches can expect effort, toughness, versatility, and winning basketball every time Jamie steps on the court. They can expect a player willing to defend anyone, make the extra pass, battle on the boards, score when needed, and put team success above individual attention. Those traits are why Jamie is built different than most players his age.

I assess that Jamie is a versatile two-way wing whose value goes far beyond just scoring. His ability to defend multiple positions, score at all three levels, rebound, facilitate, and consistently make smart decisions gives him an impact nearly every possession. He understands the game, competes with purpose, and brings a maturity that is uncommon for a player still early in his high school career.

What makes Jamie dynamic is the combination of versatility and reliability. Coaches know every night his intensity level, defensive commitment, and willingness to do the little things never fade. As his confidence continues growing and his offensive game expands, his ceiling rises even higher. The foundation is already built on winning habits, and those habits tend to translate at every level of basketball.

Expect a more confident, more complete, and more aggressive version of Jamie this season. Stay tuned.
