Zak plays the game with confidence, patience, and the belief that there is always another way to score. His offensive game starts with a smooth outside shot, but it never stops there. If defenders take away the three, he is just as comfortable attacking the rim off the bounce or pulling up with a punishing middy once he gets to his spots. That balanced approach makes him a difficult matchup because he refuses to rely on just one part of his game. On the defensive end, his size allows him to impact winning in different ways by crashing the boards, rotating on time, protecting the rim, and doing whatever is needed to help his teammates. Every possession is built around making the right basketball play instead of forcing the action.
Zak enters another important season carrying valuable experience from both high school and AAU. His previous high school season didn't unfold the way he hoped, but it also became one of the biggest driving forces behind the player he is becoming. Although he was surrounded by good teammates and competed on the varsity level, he never felt like he had the opportunity to fully show everything he could do. Instead of letting frustration slow him down, it fueled his motivation to attack every workout with even greater purpose. That mindset has carried over into a strong AAU season with Morgan Dawgs Elite, where he is averaging around 14 points per game while helping his team continue to build chemistry. With major tournaments in Las Vegas, Chicago, and a home event still ahead, Zak believes this group has a chance to put its name back on the map. One accomplishment he takes great pride in is earning Academic All-State honors, proving his commitment goes well beyond the basketball court.
Colorado Live became another important step in Zak's growth. The weekend reminded him that when he believes in himself and plays with confidence, his game reaches another level. He also learned something valuable about his team. Even if they may not have the size of every opponent, they have plenty of heart, toughness, and determination to compete with anyone. That belief continues giving the team confidence heading into the rest of the summer and the upcoming high school season.
The biggest improvement in Zak's game has been becoming a more complete player. Hours in the weight room have helped him grow stronger while making him more consistent as a shooter and more dependable as a leader. Every part of his game has continued moving forward, but the biggest adversity came from feeling doubted and overlooked during the previous high school season. There were times when the lack of respect challenged his love for the game, yet instead of giving up, he used every doubt as motivation to continue improving. His answer has never been words, but showing up every day and proving people wrong through his work.
When Zak steps onto the floor against highly regarded players, the names and rankings never matter. His mindset stays exactly the same because he knows every player puts their shoes on the same way. He trusts the countless hours he spends working on his game, believing preparation always gives him confidence when the ball goes up. Every matchup is simply another opportunity to compete, prove himself, and show that hard work always speaks louder than rankings.
The behind-the-scenes grind has become the foundation for everything Zak hopes to accomplish. He spends multiple sessions in the gym every day working to expand every part of his game while continuing to add strength and muscle in the weight room. Becoming bigger, stronger, and more physical remains one of his biggest offseason priorities because he knows those improvements will open even more opportunities on both ends of the floor.
Zak's goals continue reaching higher with every season. Throughout the rest of AAU, he wants to win tournaments, help bring recognition to both himself and his teammates, and finish the summer with college offers. Once the high school season begins, his focus shifts toward winning the league, making a deep playoff run, and helping his teammates create a season they will always remember. Individual success matters, but winning together remains at the center of everything he hopes to accomplish.
Every coach can expect maximum effort every time Zak steps onto the court. They can expect a player willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win while competing with confidence, toughness, and an unselfish mindset. Looking ahead to his senior season, Zak expects to make plenty of noise, finish with strong production, earn college scholarship opportunities, and leave the program knowing he gave everything he had every single night. His confidence continues to grow, his game continues to expand, and he believes his best basketball is still to come.
I assess that Zak is a versatile scoring wing whose balanced offensive game makes him difficult to defend. His ability to stretch the floor, attack the basket, score from the mid-range, and contribute defensively gives him value on both ends of the court. His continued physical development and growing confidence have helped elevate every part of his game.
Zak brings toughness, determination, and a relentless work ethic every time he competes. He has responded to adversity by improving instead of making excuses, and that mindset continues pushing his game forward. As he keeps adding strength, consistency, and leadership, expect Zak to make a strong impact throughout his senior season while putting himself in position to achieve his goal of playing college basketball. Stay tuned.
