Agua Dulce HS, TX

Briggs plays this game like a high-voltage highlight waiting to burst open. He is a bouncy, athletic wing with sneaky mad hops that catch defenders sleeping and a smooth rainmaker from deep that needs almost no space to scorch a net. His shooting touch glides, his playmaking flares, and his athletic energy give him the rare ability to impact a game even when the ball isn’t in his hands. Briggs runs the floor with purpose, handles the ball with strength, rebounds like he is much bigger, and delivers dimes with a feel that makes his teammates better every possession. On defense, he turns into a fierce disruptor who eats up space, cuts off angles, and blocks shots with timing you simply cannot teach. Briggs brings the total package, and when he is locked in, it's going to be a long night for opposing teams.

Last season was his breakout. He stuffed every category with 11.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.2 steals, 1.7 blocks, and 66 threes, shooting a blistering 45 percent, proving he was already one of the most complete young guards in Texas. That production didn’t come easy. He was coming off a freshman year with limited varsity time, but he exploded as a sophomore in a bigger 5A district and stepped directly into a leadership role. And now that he has transitioned to Agua Dulce HS, he is already showing how high his ceiling really is. This season, he opened with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals, and a +44, a complete takeover performance that shows how his game translates anywhere he goes.

The biggest improvement in his game comes from confidence. Briggs became more aggressive, more willing to attack off the dribble, and more deadly in big moments. He is committed to becoming a true three-level scorer and a complete threat from every angle of the court. Developing his handle in full-court situations and adding to his post-game are next on his hit list, and he embraces the grind required to master those traits.

Briggs is fueled by competition. He looks forward to facing Port Aransas in a top-ten Texas 2A showdown, as well as stepping into an old rivalry against Calallen. He thrives in big atmospheres, loves the pressure of a huge moment, and feeds off the roar that follows a clutch shot or a critical defensive stop. Coaches can expect total effort from him every single time of shooting, playmaking, defending, rebounding, whatever his team needs. He finds ways to impact the game even when shots are not falling, and he takes real pride in the defensive side of the ball. His energy on the court is contagious and sets a tone for the players around him.

He handles adversity with a deep breath and the best piece of advice he ever received from his favorite coach, the late Jose Garcia: “Be a Goldfish.” Forget the mistake. Reset your mind. Move on. Play free. Coach Garcia poured into Briggs, believed in him, and left him with wisdom that now lives inside Briggs every time he steps on the court. His legacy remains part of Briggs’ story, and Briggs honors him with every possession.

Off the court, Briggs lives a life rooted in passion and purpose. He is a dedicated Christian, placing his relationship with God above everything else. His faith shapes his mindset, guides his decisions, and gives him strength in every battle. His little brother and two sisters mean the world to him, and their presence keeps him grounded and focused on becoming the best version of himself.

He is a music lover, a traveler, and someone who fully immerses himself in the game he loves. Whether he is playing, watching, or studying film, basketball consumes him in the best way possible. His dream is to reach the highest level he can reach. NBA, D1, JUCO, overseas — he just wants to hoop. He currently has zero offers and zero interests, but his hunger is unmatched, and his work ethic will force doors to open. Briggs Hoffman is only getting started. The sky is not the limit for him. It is the runway.

I assess that Briggs brings a combination of shooting accuracy, athletic elevation, rebounding dominance for his position, and all-around versatility. His ability to space the floor, push in transition, defend multiple spots, and create for others gives him tremendous value at the college level. His competitiveness, leadership growth, and willingness to expand his game make him a player who can strengthen a program’s identity and add immediate impact across several categories.

Briggs is entering a phase where his ceiling can rise rapidly. His added aggression, improved ball handling, and commitment to becoming a complete scorer position him for a breakout junior season. His mentality, passion for the game, and faith-driven purpose give him longevity and resilience that will serve him well at the next level. Expect a player who will continue stacking production, elevating teammates, and building a future path that pushes him into the recruiting spotlight sooner than later. Get your popcorn ready. Buckle up, cause this show is just getting started.
