AAU: Behind the Scenes/P32 New Balance Circuit

Briggs has become a versatile standout from Agua Dulce who continues turning heads because of the way he combines IQ, shot-making, toughness, and defensive intensity all into one complete package. Every time he steps on the floor, Briggs plays with confidence, composure, and the type of competitive fire that keeps impacting the game possession after possession.

Briggs describes himself as a high-IQ player who prides himself on making the right decision while getting to his spots offensively. Whether it’s raining shots from deep, creating opportunities for teammates, or breaking pressure with improved ball-handling, his game continues expanding in ways that make him tougher to guard every time out. What stands out immediately is how under control he stays while still playing aggressively. Defenders can’t relax because Briggs knows exactly how to make them pay once they give him an opening.

The part of his game he takes the most pride in starts with his shooting and defense. That combination is becoming a major problem because he’s the type of player capable of stretching defenses offensively while also turning around and locking in defensively on the other end. His confidence as a shooter keeps rising, but his willingness to compete defensively on every possession adds another level of value that coaches love.

This past high school season brought several moments that helped show his game was beginning to hit another gear, but one memory still stands above the rest. A district title game with a big moment on a big stage, Briggs delivered a game-winning poster dunk that instantly became one of the defining highlights of his season. More importantly, though, he started noticing his offensive confidence building every single game throughout the year. The game slowed down more, his reads became sharper, and he started realizing just how dangerous he could become offensively once he fully trusted himself.

One of the biggest improvements carrying directly into AAU has been his ball-handling. Briggs admitted he was never a weak ball-handler before, but now the confidence and comfort level are completely different. He believes he can handle real pressure, create offense, and attack defenders with far more confidence than before. That development has added another important weapon to his game because it forces defenders to respect much more than just his jumper.

Now playing with Team Blessed on the P32 New Balance Circuit, Briggs continues building momentum throughout the spring and summer while competing against stronger competition every weekend. The exposure, intensity, and pace of AAU basketball have only continued elevating his overall game. Every tournament becomes another opportunity to prove exactly why his name deserves more attention beyond South Texas.

The road hasn’t been perfectly smooth either. Briggs faced both injuries and off-the-court adversity this past year that tested him mentally. Instead of allowing those moments to break his focus, he leaned heavily into his faith in God while trusting the work he had already put in behind the scenes. That mindset helped him continue pushing forward during difficult moments and added even more toughness to his mentality moving forward.

Heading into live period, Briggs is chasing much bigger goals than simply putting up numbers. He wants scholarship opportunities. He wants to continue developing into a high-level college player. Most importantly, he wants to prove that his game absolutely belongs when matched against elite competition from anywhere in the country. That hunger continues fueling everything he’s doing right now.

When college coaches pull up to watch Briggs, they’re going to see a high-motor player who competes relentlessly on both ends of the floor. They’re going to see a dependable 3-and-D weapon that can be trusted to play major minutes while bringing energy, toughness, smart decision-making, and consistent effort every single night. They’re also going to see somebody whose confidence and overall game continue climbing every time he steps into competition.

I assess that Briggs is a fierce two-way player with size, IQ, shooting ability, and defensive toughness that immediately stand out. His ability to stretch the floor while also defending with intensity gives him strong value on both ends. The improvement in his ball-handling and offensive confidence continues opening more doors for his game and making him much tougher to contain.

Briggs has the tools to continue rising because his game fits what coaches value at higher levels. The combination of shooting, versatility, decision-making, and defensive effort creates a player capable of impacting winning in multiple ways. His ability to battle through adversity while continuing to improve says a lot about his character and mentality. As his confidence keeps growing and his offensive skill set continues expanding, Briggs has the ability to become a very valuable college-level player with plenty more potential ahead.
