Justin is beginning to make serious noise as one of the most intriguing young bigs in Kentucky, bringing an old-school post presence mixed with modern versatility that allows him to impact the game in several ways. The rising star has already started establishing his identity as a defensive tone setter who understands that protecting the rim is not just part of the job but an art he intends to perfect, and the way he anchors the paint with intensity and timing has quickly become one of the defining elements of his game.
What stands out most about Justin is the defensive intensity he brings every time he steps on the floor. He embraces the physical battles inside, using his length, instincts, and timing to challenge shots and make opponents uncomfortable whenever they attack the paint. Averaging 3 blocks per game, he has already shown the ability to alter shots and shift momentum with his presence around the rim, consistently forcing opponents to rethink their approach when driving into the lane.
Offensively, Justin plays with purpose and energy, running the floor hard and finishing around the rim with intent whenever opportunities present themselves. His ability to score inside while creating second-chance opportunities adds a valuable element to his team’s offense, and his motor keeps him active around the basket, where he can grab loose balls and rebounds.
What separates Justin from many young big men is his vision and feel for the game. When defenses collapse inside, he demonstrates impressive court awareness by finding open teammates cutting to the basket or sliding into space, delivering sweet dimes that create easy scoring opportunities. That ability to read the floor and make smart decisions with the ball shows a developing basketball IQ that adds another layer to his overall impact.
This past season was his first year competing at the varsity level, and the experience proved to be a major step forward in his development. He averaged 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 3 blocks while continuing to gain confidence as the season progressed. One of his proudest moments came when he earned starting opportunities and made the most of them, including a game in which he had a strong 10-point performance that showed his potential when given the chance to step into a larger role.
Confidence has been the biggest improvement in his game this year as he continues adjusting to the pace and physicality of varsity basketball while learning how to trust his abilities. That growth has allowed him to become more comfortable contributing on both ends while continuing to build his presence within the team.
Justin thrives when the odds seem stacked against his team, using those moments as fuel to compete even harder and elevate his effort. When facing adversity, his mindset stays locked in as he reminds himself that the true battle is always within, choosing to block out outside noise and focus on improving his own performance and development.
As he continues working to strengthen his ball handling and develop a consistent jump shot, those improvements will expand his offensive versatility and create even more opportunities for him to impact the game. Playing with Kentucky Ambition on the travel circuit will give him more chances to showcase his evolving skill set and continue building momentum heading into what could be a monster summer run.
With his defensive instincts, willingness to compete, and developing offensive awareness, Justin is a young star whose growth is clear. As his confidence continues to grow and his skill set expands, he is positioning himself to become a major presence on both ends of the floor while steadily building a name that more people will soon begin to recognize.
I assess that Justin brings a defensive presence that immediately affects the game through his shot-blocking instincts, timing, and ability to anchor the paint. His willingness to compete physically, combined with strong awareness and passing ability for a big, allows him to influence the flow of the game beyond traditional post roles.
As Justin continues adding strength while improving his ball handling and perimeter shooting, his potential expands significantly. His defensive instincts already give him a strong foundation, and as his offensive skill set grows, he has the tools to develop into a versatile post player who can protect the rim, run the floor effectively, and contribute as a playmaker when defenses collapse. Get your popcorn ready, as this young star is just getting started. Stay tuned.
