"The Relentless Wing That Brings The Storm"

Owen Brezinski

@ojbreezz

6'4, Class of 2027

Lakeville North HS, MN

Owen is a player who refuses to slow down for even one possession. He plays the game with nonstop energy, toughness, and a ruthless motor that keeps pressure on opponents from start to finish. The dynamic two-way wing attacks basketball with aggression on both ends, constantly finding ways to impact winning, whether it’s raining threes, finishing through contact at the rim, locking down defensively, crashing the boards, or pushing the break in transition after forcing stops.

Owen describes his game as playing as hard as possible every second he’s on the floor. That edge shows up immediately when watching him play because he’s constantly hustling, competing, and making effort plays that completely shift momentum. Once his team gets a stop or rebound, Owen instantly turns into an attacking weapon in transition, looking to create easy buckets for himself and teammates before defenses can even settle.

His junior season at Lakeville North backed up exactly how complete his game has become. After averaging 18.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game midway through the season, Owen finished the year posting 17.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while continuing to expand every area of his game. What stands out most is how much responsibility he took on as the season progressed. He began the year starting at forward before eventually moving into the starting point guard role later in the season. That transition demanded growth in his handles, decision-making, and ability to distribute the basketball, and Owen embraced it fully.

Throughout the season, his ball-handling improved significantly, while his ability to find open teammates created even more scoring opportunities within the flow of the offense. The versatility to shift from wing to lead guard responsibilities says a lot about his basketball IQ and willingness to do whatever the team needs to win.

Even with all the offensive firepower in his game, Owen takes the most pride in his defense. He talked about holding his ground, helping teammates, rotating correctly, and making sure he’s in strong help positions defensively. That mentality separates him because many talented scorers avoid embracing the defensive side. Owen attacked it directly after realizing defense was the area he lacked most during the high school season.

That work is showing up big during AAU with MN Fury 17U-Zurn.

The gym work has become nonstop with Owen lifting 5 times a week while focusing heavily on getting stronger and becoming more disruptive defensively. The added strength and commitment to defense are helping elevate his entire game because now he’s impacting possessions physically on both ends of the floor.

One of the biggest moments of his AAU season came during MN Fury’s unforgettable 84-83 overtime championship win over MN Select at the Prep Hoops Upper Midwest Finals. In the biggest game of the weekend, Owen exploded for 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 threes on a blistering 9-11 shooting performance. Every huge moment seemed to find him. Big shots, transition finishes, and tough buckets under pressure. He delivered them all while helping Fury survive one of the wildest games of the summer.

And according to Owen, the fuel behind that performance came from pure emotion and competitiveness. He admitted he was angry and refused to lose again, so he attacked the game with everything he had possession after possession. That mentality created easy buckets because his energy level never dropped. When a player combines confidence, energy, athleticism, and emotion the way Owen did that game, the result becomes extremely difficult to stop.

The championship run also meant a lot because of the adversity he battled early with the team. Owen was one of 3 new players joining the roster, and at first, the chemistry did not come naturally. Learning how to fit in, build trust, and connect both on and off the court took time. But as the season progressed, those relationships strengthened and eventually turned into one of the biggest reasons the Fury ripped through the tournament with a dominant 5-0 record.

Winning that championship stands out as Owen’s biggest AAU achievement so far because the team had already experienced multiple tournaments ending with only one loss. Finally breaking through together and finishing the job made the accomplishment even sweeter.

This offseason, the focus remains locked on becoming stronger physically, continuing to elevate his defense, and bringing relentless ball pressure every game. Owen understands that his ceiling rises even higher the more complete he becomes defensively, because the offensive ability is already there. The shooting touch, transition scoring, rebounding, athleticism, and playmaking continue making him a matchup problem all over the floor.

Looking ahead, coaches can expect Owen to put in nonstop effort in every single game. He plays with a winning mindset and refuses to quit on possessions, no matter what adversity hits during games. Offensively, he’s looking for his spots, attacking openings, and creating opportunities for teammates while defensively bringing toughness, energy, and relentless pressure. That type of mentality spreads quickly through teams because players who compete that hard every possession force everybody around them to raise their level, too.

Moving forward, expect Owen to continue climbing. The versatility, toughness, expanding guard skills, defensive growth, and relentless work ethic are all pointing toward another huge leap heading into next season. He’s becoming the type of complete two-way weapon capable of impacting every area of the game while playing with the kind of fire coaches love building around.

I assess that Owen is a versatile two-way wing with strong athleticism, physical finishing ability, outside shooting, and defensive toughness. His ability to impact games as both a scorer and playmaker while also rebounding and defending multiple areas of the floor makes him extremely difficult to match up against. He competes with relentless energy, embraces physical basketball, and consistently creates momentum through effort-based winning plays.

Owen’s ceiling continues to rise because of the combination of versatility, motor, and an expanding all-around skill set. His transition into more ball-handling and point guard responsibilities adds another dangerous weapon to his offensive game, while his commitment to improving defensively is helping complete his overall development. As his strength and consistency continue improving, he has the tools to become a high-impact player capable of helping programs through scoring, defensive pressure, rebounding, and complete two-way basketball.
