Ryder is the kind of player every team needs, but not every team has. He is tough, versatile, and hungry. The type of player willing to do all the dirty work while still bringing winning plays all over the floor. Once Ryder steps on the court, his whole mindset is about hustle, toughness, and doing whatever it takes to help his team win. If the team needs him to run the offense. He can do it. Need him battling inside. He embraces it. Being able to slide between positions 1-5 gives his game a different kind of value because he is not locked into just one role. He simply finds ways to impact the game.

What makes Ryder’s story stand out even more is how his season started compared to where it finished.

At the beginning of the high school season, Ryder was the 8th man coming off the bench. For a lot of players, that could have easily become frustration, excuses, or disappointment. Instead, Ryder stayed locked in and kept grinding every single day. Practice after practice. Workout after workout. He kept putting in work behind the scenes, waiting for his opportunity to come. Then, midway through the season, everything changed.

Once Ryder earned that starting spot, he never looked back.

That moment became the biggest confidence booster of his basketball journey so far. It showed him exactly what hard work and staying hungry could do. From that point forward, he became a huge contributor and continued proving he belonged on the floor. More importantly, it lit another fire inside him. Ryder realized if he kept attacking the grind with the same hunger and toughness, nobody would be able to take that spot away from him.

One of the biggest improvements in his game this year has been his strength and physicality with the basketball. Ryder has become much tougher with the ball in his hands, allowing him to absorb contact better, stay composed under pressure, and play with more confidence offensively. That added strength is now carrying over strongly into the AAU season with Hoop City Elite, where the speed and physicality of the game only continue rising.

Adversity also helped shape Ryder throughout the season. Instead of folding when things got difficult, he kept his head down and worked even harder. He leaned heavily on his faith in Jesus during those moments, trusting that everything happens for a reason and understanding that adversity is often part of the process before breakthroughs happen. That mindset helped him stay focused while continuing to improve instead of getting discouraged.

Now the grind has only intensified.

Ryder is attacking the offseason harder than ever between weights, conditioning, AAU basketball, and recovery work. One of his biggest focuses right now is turning his outside shot into a weapon that becomes automatic and consistent every single game. He knows once that part of his game fully clicks, defenders are going to have major problems trying to stop him because of everything else he already brings to the floor.

Heading into Live Period play with Hoop City Elite, Ryder is hungry to prove he can compete with anybody in the country. He wants people to understand he belongs in conversations with some of the best players in Tennessee and beyond. That hunger fuels his work ethic daily and keeps him chasing another level every time he steps inside a gym.

When college coaches watch Ryder play, they are going to get a relentless hustler willing to do whatever it takes to win. They are going to see somebody who plays the game the right way, competes every possession, embraces physical basketball, and brings energy that impacts everybody around him. Ryder may not always be the loudest player in the gym, but his effort, versatility, and hunger make sure people notice him anyway.

I assess that Ryder is a versatile, high-motor player who impacts games through toughness, hustle, and a willingness to embrace any role. His ability to play multiple positions and stay physical with the basketball gives him strong value on both ends of the floor. He competes hard, stays coachable, and consistently brings winning effort every possession.

Ryder’s growth this year showed exactly what happens when preparation meets opportunity. His improving strength, confidence, and versatility continue pushing his game forward. As his outside shot becomes more consistent, his ability to attack, defend, rebound, and impact multiple positions becomes even tougher to contain. His mentality, work ethic, and hunger to prove himself give him sky-high potential moving forward. Stay tuned.
