Torin steps on the court with a fierce combination of speed, confidence, and natural force that instantly grabs the attention of anyone watching. He takes pride in attacking downhill, getting to his spots with purpose, and playing with nonstop energy on both ends of the floor. Torin creates open looks for teammates with vision and IQ, turning defensive pressure into offensive advantages. His game is driven by intensity, effort, and a competitive spark that lifts the entire environment around him. He can shift momentum the second he touches the ball, and he is the kind of teammate who raises the standard of everyone on the floor.
The numbers don't lie. Last season, he averaged 18.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.2 steals. This year, he elevated his scoring to 23.4 points in preseason play against ranked competition across British Columbia. His improvement in scoring and leadership has been one of the defining jumps in his development. Torin embraced more responsibility and stepped into a bigger role, especially after the unforgettable comeback from down 22 points in the Big Ticket Tournament semifinals against the Lord Byng Grey Ghosts, who were the #6-ranked 3A program in the province. That performance became the moment that validated his ability to lead in big moments and respond when the pressure is on.
Torin is hungry to grow every part of his game. His biggest focus is developing long-range off-the-dribble shooting because he knows it will open the floor and create easier driving lanes. He is committed to building his body to reach 170 pounds by next season. He also wants to strengthen his mindset because he believes basketball is 90 percent mental and that the mental side separates the elite players from the rest. Torin plays every game with a sense of urgency because he always asks himself, "What if this is the last game I ever get to play?" That thought drives him to compete as hard as possible on every possession. He does not waste energy on anything he cannot control. He chooses to control what he can, which is energy, defense, and effort.
His rivalry with Lord Tweedsmuir fuels him as well. They eliminated his team from the playoffs last season and took their provincial spot, which left a mark he has not forgotten. His coaches describe him as the spark plug of the team because he brings life to the floor, raises the level of intensity, and competes with pride every moment he is out there. This season, Torin is focused on making a name for himself and earning the recognition he knows he deserves.
Off the court, Torin is grounded by time with family and friends. He loves lifting weights and cooking, which help him stay balanced while he chases his basketball dreams. Recruitment is beginning with early conversations with Coach Mike Shelast of Western Canada Prep Academy. Torin has every intention of playing college basketball wherever he is given an opportunity. In his words, he only needs one chance.
I assess that Torin brings a powerful combination of attacking ability, the ability to see the floor and find open teammates, competitive fire, and nonstop energy that can elevate any college program. His mentality of treating every game like it could be his last creates a focus and urgency that coaches love. He has the versatility to impact scoring in multiple ways, playmaking, and defensive pressure, while carrying a presence that fuels his teammates. His potential to impact winning is big, and his approach to development positions him for long-term success at the next level.
As Torin continues to build strength, elevate his off-the-dribble shooting, and continues expanding his leadership presence, he is poised to become one of the most dynamic guards in his class. His rise is clear, and his ability to produce against strong competition proves he is ready for the big stage. Expect his game to keep rising as he trusts his mindset, his work ethic, and his hunger to compete. Torin is a player with real growth ahead and the potential to make a real impact at the college level. Stay tuned.
