Brody is a fierce, electric two-way force who storms into games with explosive purpose. He plays like a controlled wildfire, burning through blocking schemes, collapsing run lanes, and closing on ball carriers with dynamic speed that jumps off the field. His instincts are razor sharp. His reaction time is instant. His pursuit is violent and unrelenting. Whether lined up at linebacker, edge, or roaming freely as a pure athlete, he reads plays with a high IQ that separates him from most defenders at his age. On offense, Brody becomes a locomotive in space, attacking lanes with intensity, slipping through tight windows, running with power, and catching effortlessly out of the backfield. Versatility is his trademark, physicality is his foundation, speed is his weapon, and effort is the heartbeat of everything he does. Coaches know they are getting a high-motor, high-impact competitor who refuses to take a snap off every time he steps on the field.
His production tells the story of a rising star quickly becoming one of Kentucky’s most complete young athletes. As a sophomore, Brody piled up 101 tackles, 59 solo stops, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions, including a pick-six. He added over 500 rushing yards, 5 touchdowns, and over 100 receiving yards, proving just how dynamic he could be on both sides of the ball. This past junior season, he raised the bar again with 106 tackles, 65 solo hits, 8 tackles for loss, and another interception return. Offensively, he had 576 rushing yards and 7 total touchdowns. His biggest improvement has come in his decision-making, discipline, and speed. Now he wants more. His offseason focus is locked in on sharpening consistency, building next-level explosiveness, perfecting film study, and developing a body built for FBS football. He attacks weight training, speed work, and nutrition with a full commitment because in his mind, three days a week will never be enough. His fire comes from being overlooked for all-district honors despite leading his team in tackles, a slight that turned into fuel and sharpened his hunger.
Brody plays the game with a mentality anchored in resilience and forward motion. When facing adversity, he gets up, resets, and keeps going. He believes everything in football must be earned, never handed out, and he brings that mentality into practice, the weight room, and every snap of competition. His film shows relentless pursuit, a high-octane motor, and a football IQ that continues to rise. He studies keys, anticipates plays before they unfold, and thrives in chaos. His goal is to earn his place at the DI level and build relationships with programs that believe in consistency, honesty, and long-term development.
Recruitment has already started to find him. Brody holds a D1 FCS offer from Morehead State and has received communication from Louisville, Kent State, and Marshall. He’s made multiple unofficial visits and carries a strong 3.8 GPA, proving he is just as disciplined academically as he is athletically. Now he steps into his next stage with something to prove, not with noise, not with talk, but with production that forces attention.
I assess that Brody brings a rare blend of explosiveness, toughness, instinct, and multi-position versatility that immediately strengthens a college program. His ability to diagnose plays, finish tackles in space, disrupt gaps, and provide offensive value makes him a unique roster weapon. Programs looking for a high-motor defender with true sideline-to-sideline range and the potential to become a defensive anchor will find major upside in Brody’s game.
As he develops his speed training, builds more power, and sharpens his consistency, Brody’s potential skyrockets. Expect him to take even greater command on defense, expand his offensive touches, and continue proving himself against higher levels of competition. With his drive, intelligence, and nonstop intensity, Brody Simpkins is evolving into one of the fiercest two-way prospects in Kentucky, and possibly a future standout at the D1 level. Stay tuned.
