"The Playmaker with Court Vision, Scoring Punch, and a Winning Mentality"

Eli Parrett

6', Class of 2027

New Palestine HS, IN

Eli's game starts with his ability to make the players around him better. He is the type of guard who understands how to control the flow of a game, keep teammates involved, and put everyone in positions where they can succeed. While he can certainly create his own offense and put points on the board when needed, what stands out most is his willingness to share the basketball and make the right play. He sees the floor well, understands spacing, and has developed into a player who can break down a defense with either a pass or a basket. That balance between scoring and facilitating makes him a difficult player to defend because opponents never know whether he is about to create for himself or create for someone else.

The season brought plenty of highs, lessons, and opportunities for growth. Eli and his team got off to a strong start and showed early signs of what they could become when everyone played together and trusted one another. A difficult loss during the season created some adversity and shifted the momentum, but it also provided valuable lessons about resilience and perseverance. Throughout the year, Eli consistently found ways to impact games beyond scoring. He piled up multiple games with 6 or more assists and embraced the responsibility of running the offense while making sure his teammates stayed involved. One thing he appreciated most about his team was their willingness to attack opponents rather than fear them. Regardless of who was standing on the other side of the floor, they competed aggressively and never backed down from a challenge.

Earning Honorable Mention All-County recognition was a meaningful moment because it represented validation from coaches who had seen his work firsthand. Recognition like that doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from preparation, consistency, and making an impact game after game. For Eli, the honor served as confirmation that his efforts were being noticed and respected by those who understand the game.

His confidence has continued to grow throughout the offseason and AAU season thanks to several standout performances. A 16-point, 11-assist game showcased his ability to control a game as both a scorer and facilitator, while scoring games of 19, 23, and 28 points during a championship run at the Hardwood Classic highlighted another side of his game. Those performances reinforced what he already believed about himself. When the lights get brighter and the stakes get higher, he has the ability to step forward and make winning plays. More importantly, those games strengthened his belief that he can continue developing into a player capable of succeeding at the next level. Every strong performance added another layer of confidence and further proved that he can impact games in a variety of ways.

AAU basketball with East Elite has provided another platform for growth. Eli has become a player his teammates trust when a big basket is needed, and that trust isn't given freely but earned through preparation, production, and consistently delivering in important moments. While his scoring ability often grabs attention, his value goes beyond putting points on the scoreboard. He does an excellent job creating opportunities through pick-and-roll situations, finding open teammates, and making the extra pass when defenses collapse. That ability to score while still keeping teammates involved makes him a valuable piece of any lineup.

One of the biggest improvements in his game came when he learned to slow down and trust the flow of the offense. Earlier in his development, there were times when he felt the need to score immediately or force the action. As he matured, he learned that patience often creates better opportunities. Allowing the game to come to him rather than chasing it opened up new levels of efficiency and effectiveness. That growth has helped him become a more complete player and a more dependable decision-maker. At the same time, facing tough competition and physical defenses forced him to adapt and improve. Those challenges pushed him outside his comfort zone and helped sharpen his overall game.

Now going to an important stage of his basketball journey, Eli's focus is locked in on becoming stronger and developing into an even better shooter. He wants to continue expanding his offensive arsenal while maintaining the playmaking ability that has become one of his calling cards. The goals are ambitious because the expectations he has for himself are high. He wants to put up big numbers in both points and assists while helping lead his team to as much success as possible.

Behind the scenes, the work is fueled by a simple mindset. Improve every day and give yourself every opportunity to succeed. The hours spent training, shooting, and preparing are all connected to one goal. Winning. As he heads into his senior season, Eli is determined to make every game count and leave no opportunity wasted. Coaches can expect a player who competes to win every possession, embraces responsibility, and carries a winning mentality every time he steps onto the floor. Whether the game calls for scoring, facilitating, leadership, or toughness, he is prepared to answer.

I assess that Eli is a skilled floor general whose greatest strength is his ability to create offense for both himself and his teammates. His vision, passing ability, and understanding of the game allow him to control tempo and put players in positions to succeed. He has also shown the ability to score in bunches when needed, making him a balanced offensive weapon who can hurt defenses in multiple ways.

The combination of playmaking instincts, scoring ability, growing confidence, and leadership gives Eli a strong foundation heading into his senior season. His growth in learning to let the game come to him has elevated his effectiveness and should continue to pay off moving forward. As he adds strength and continues improving as a shooter, his ability to impact games should expand even further. Players who can create offense, make smart decisions, and elevate the confidence of those around them are always valuable, and Eli has those qualities in abundance.
