As a point guard, Mateo's game begins with his ability to get downhill and put pressure on defenses. Once he gets a foot in the paint, good things start happening. He can create opportunities for himself, open up scoring chances for teammates, and keep an offense flowing. What separates him is the grit and heart he brings every time he steps onto the floor. He takes pride in defending, embraces doing the little things that help teams win, and understands that leadership is not about words alone. It is about making winning plays when they matter most.
