East Hardy HS, WV

Gideon is a fierce defensive stud who thrives as a rim protector and dominant rebounder. His length, timing, and relentless hustle make him one of the most feared shot-blockers in the region, while his improved vertical, 34” standing, and 38” running have turned him into an above-the-rim finisher who consistently plays with explosive energy. Offensively, he uses a powerful one-dribble drop step and foul-line attacks to finish through contact, and he’s been steadily adding a hook shot and smoother face-up game to his arsenal. Coaches can expect him to control the glass, protect the paint, and bring an encouraging, positive presence that lifts his teammates every possession.

Last season, Gideon averaged 13 points, 13.5 rebounds (ranked 90th nationally), 3.7 blocks (98th nationally), along with 79% from the line, 1 assist, and 1 steal per game. His greatest improvement has been expanding his shooting ability, transitioning from a pure back-to-the-basket big into a dual-threat weapon. He has also focused on ball handling to become more versatile and continues to grow stronger in the weight room. Notable performances include tying the WV State Tournament record with 11 blocks in a single game and a jaw-dropping 28-point, 12-rebound, 10-block triple-double at the Western Maryland Classic EYBL event.

This offseason, Gideon has zeroed in on developing his hook shot, ball-handling, and conditioning. With consistent work in the gym, he now dunks with ease and plans to play more above the rim this year. His motivation comes from high-stakes games when the pressure is highest, and those moments fuel his drive to push himself even harder. His ultimate goal is to return to the state tournament with East Hardy and make a deep championship run, building on last year’s historic trip, and the first regional home win in school history.

Though his AAU action has been limited, Gideon used smaller tournaments to sharpen his game and plans to face bigger, elite competition next summer. He embraces the challenge of battling top bigs and takes pride in his effort on both ends of the court. His leadership shines through his energy, whether it’s grabbing a rebound, protecting the rim, or lifting up a teammate after a tough play. The best coaching advice he’s ever received, Play every possession like it’s your last”, keeps him locked in and grateful for every opportunity to step on the floor.

Off the court, Gideon enjoys playing guitar, listening to music, lifting weights, spending time outdoors, and being with his family and friends. His faith is also key to who he is. A devoted Christian, he stays connected with his church and credits God for his strength, guidance, and opportunities both in basketball and in life.

I assess that Gideon’s rim protection, rebounding dominance, and vertical explosion make him a game-changer for any program. His size, length, and effort create instant defensive impact, while his expanding offensive skill set ensures he won’t be limited to the paint. A coach can count on him to bring energy, toughness, and leadership qualities that elevate teammates and tilt the balance of a game.

Looking forward, Gideon has the potential to become one of the most complete big men in his class. With his dedication to skill development, growing versatility, and proven ability to perform t on big stages, he projects as a high-ceiling prospect who can anchor a defense, contribute as a consistent scorer, and thrive against top competition. His work ethic and faith-driven approach suggest he will continue climbing, prepared to make a major impact at the next level. Stay tuned.
