Kumarie is the kind of point guard every team needs because she impacts winning in so many different ways. She plays with confidence, energy, and a team-first mindset while taking pride in leading from the point guard position. Her biggest strength is her relentless on-ball defense, picking up opponents 94 feet, making ball handlers uncomfortable, and turning defense into easy offense. She also controls the pace of the game, makes smart decisions with the basketball, communicates constantly, and keeps teammates involved. Whether she is creating for others, making the extra play, or setting the tone defensively, Kumarie brings the same steady energy every time she steps on the floor.
This past high school season became another big step forward in her growth as both a player and a leader. She became more comfortable running the offense, making reads, and taking control of the game on both ends of the floor. One of her biggest improvements came through becoming more vocal and learning how to control the pace as a point guard. Her hard work earned her All-District and All-Metro honors, but one accomplishment meant even more than any award. Every game, she accepted the challenge of guarding the other team's best player, knowing her defense could change everything for her team. One of her favorite memories came during her sophomore season when her team won district and region championships before making a run to sub-state. She never measured her success only by points because her goal was always to make an impact that helped her team win.
Her development doesn't stop when the season ends. During the year, she studies film to see where she can improve from game to game while spending time in the weight room getting stronger. Once postseason arrives, the work picks up even more with two-a-day sessions built around speed, agility, strength training, and skill work. Every workout has a purpose because she wants to keep growing into the best version of herself.
This summer has brought another opportunity to keep building her game with B.Maze Elite 17U S40. Competing against talented players has helped her become an even better floor general while continuing to pressure the basketball, create offense for teammates, and knock down open shots with confidence. Every tournament has given her valuable experience and another chance to grow.
Defense is where Kumarie separates herself because she believes effort and toughness are choices every player can make. She loves picking up the ball for 94 feet because it sets the tone for her teammates, forces mistakes, and creates easy scoring chances. She believes defense is something she can control every single game regardless of who she is matched up against, and that mindset has become one of the biggest reasons she impacts winning so consistently.
The behind-the-scenes work fuels everything people see on game day. Kumarie spends extra time getting shots up, tightening up her ball-handling, watching film, lifting weights, and improving her conditioning. She knows success doesn't happen overnight, so she stays consistent and trusts the process every single day. This offseason, she has focused on becoming a more complete point guard by improving her shooting consistency, finishing through contact, strengthening her handle, and building the stamina needed to play with the same defensive intensity from the opening tip until the final buzzer. Her goals are to earn college opportunities while becoming the dependable leader her teammates can count on every game.
When she plays against highly ranked or well-known players, nothing changes about her approach. She doesn't worry about rankings or reputations because once the ball goes up, everyone has to compete. She enjoys those matchups because they push her to play her best while proving she belongs on the same floor with anyone.
Every coach can expect a player who competes every possession, communicates constantly, puts the team first, and never backs away from hard work. They can expect someone who stays coachable, embraces the defensive challenge, and brings energy from start to finish. Heading into this upcoming season, Kumarie plans to continue growing as a point guard, become more consistent offensively, and remain the relentless defender who sets the tone every time she steps on the court.
I assess that Kumarie is a true floor general whose value goes far beyond just scoring. Her relentless defense, leadership, communication, and ability to control the game make her a player who helps teams win in many different ways. She embraces tough assignments, plays with confidence, and continues improving every part of her game.
Kumarie brings toughness, effort, and a team-first attitude every time she competes. Her ability to pressure the ball, create for teammates, and lead with confidence gives her a strong foundation as a point guard. As her offensive game continues to grow alongside her already outstanding defensive presence, expect her to keep making a major impact while drawing more attention at the next level. Stay tuned.
