"The Flame Thrower Finding His Rhythm And Letting It Fly"

Aiden Lomasney

6'4, 165lbs, Class of 2027

Almont HS, MI

Aiden shifts the energy of a game the second his jumper catches rhythm. One made shot quickly turns into another, defenders start creeping tighter, and suddenly the entire floor begins opening up around him. What makes Aiden dangerous is not just the shooting itself, but how many different ways he can attack defenses. He can stretch teams from deep, attack off the bounce to the basket, create opportunities for teammates, and control pace with growing confidence and maturity. His game carries a smooth flow to it, but underneath that calm style is a player that has spent countless hours building confidence through repetition and hard work.

The three-point shot has become the calling card of Aiden’s game. He takes the most pride in his shooting because of the discipline behind it. Every single day, he gets up 500 shots, constantly sharpening his touch and building confidence through repetition. That work exploded during the Tulsa Live Period, where Aiden caught fire offensively. Playing with LOUD, he averaged 22 points and 4 assists while completely torching defenses from the perimeter. In four games, he made 21-37 shots from deep, shooting over 56 percent from three while playing with visible confidence every time he stepped on the floor. Defenders struggled to slow him down because once his confidence started flowing, his offensive rhythm became difficult to contain.

That breakout AAU performance did not happen by accident, though. It was built through a season filled with growth, adversity, and elite competition at Spire Academy. During his junior season, Aiden competed daily with multiple 4-star players while constantly being pushed against high-level talent. That environment challenged him mentally and physically while helping elevate different areas of his game. Averaging 11 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds per game during the season, Aiden steadily grew more comfortable reading defenses, understanding pace, and making smarter decisions with the ball in his hands. Now heading into his senior season, he will be transferring to Almont High School, carrying with him the confidence and experience gained from competing in one of the toughest basketball environments around.

One of the biggest improvements in Aiden’s game this year has been his decision-making. He has become much more comfortable understanding when to attack, when to pull up, when to move the ball, and when to create opportunities for teammates. That growth is now showing up heavily during AAU season because he’s no longer forcing action. Instead, he’s allowing the game to come naturally while making efficient reads possession after possession. Combined with his shooting ability, that improved decision-making makes him much tougher to defend because he can punish mistakes in multiple ways.

The journey this season also came with adversity that tested him mentally. During the middle of the year, Aiden battled through a shooting slump that heavily affected his confidence and mindset. Self-doubt started creeping in, and things mentally became difficult for a stretch. Instead of letting those struggles define him, he worked through it, stayed committed to his process, and slowly rebuilt his confidence through preparation and repetition. That mental growth may end up being just as important as any physical improvement, because it taught him to trust himself again even during difficult stretches.

One of the achievements Aiden takes the most pride in is shooting over 50 percent from three during a season. For many players, numbers like that sound unrealistic, but for Aiden it became proof that the hours of work were paying off. The consistency of his jumper, combined with growing confidence and smarter decision-making, continues turning him into one of the more dangerous perimeter scorers on the floor whenever he gets rolling.

Looking ahead, Aiden’s biggest offseason focus is improving his ball handling and becoming comfortable controlling the ball in every situation. He wants to continue growing as a complete guard while becoming even more dangerous offensively. The move to Almont High School gives him another opportunity to showcase his evolving game and continue building momentum heading into his senior season.

Coaches can expect a confident shot-maker who works relentlessly behind the scenes, competes hard, and continues to grow into a more complete playmaker. They can expect a guard capable of heating up quickly from deep while also making smarter reads and impacting the offense in multiple ways. Aiden's breakout spring has shown exactly what can happen when confidence, preparation, and opportunity finally collide at the same time.

I assess that Aiden is a dangerous outside scorer with unlimited

range, strong confidence, and growing playmaking ability. His shooting consistency stretches defenses immediately, while his improved decision-making allows him to create offense more efficiently than before. He has gained valuable experience competing against elite talent and continues becoming more comfortable reading the game at a higher level.

Aiden’s growth over the last year shows a player becoming much more complete offensively. His shooting ability already stands out at a high level, but the development of his confidence, ball handling, and overall decision-making gives him strong upside moving forward. As he continues improving his handles and expanding his all-around guard skills, his ability to impact games offensively should continue taking major jumps heading into his senior season and beyond. Stay tuned.
