Jace is an explosive guard with a relentless motor and a fierce competitive edge. His ability to break down defenders with shifty footwork and crafty handles makes him a nightmare to guard. Whether he's streaking down the court in transition, slicing through defenses with a nasty stutter-go move, or pulling up on a dime for a smooth jumper, Jace plays with an electric energy that fuels his game. He is a lethal three-level scorer, but Jace is just as dangerous catching and shooting as he creates off the bounce. His high-IQ playmaking, paired with his scrappy defensive mindset, makes him a force on both ends of the floor. Jace doesn’t just play but attacks, bringing an intensity that sets the tone for his team.

Jace’s biggest improvement from last season to now is his confidence. When he steps onto the court, Jace believes he can win any game, no matter who the opponent is. That belief, along with an evolving basketball IQ, has made him even more dynamic. This offseason, Jace’s focus is on getting stronger, adding size to his frame, and refining his ability to play off the ball. Jace's motivation runs deep, especially after losing his Papa during the season. Pushing through that adversity only strengthened his mindset, fueling his determination to play with heart every time he steps on the floor.

This summer, Jace will be playing for Arkansas Assault, ready to make his mark on the AAU circuit. Jace’s goal is to get better. His dedication is unquestionable, never missing practice, always showing up on time, and setting the standard for consistency. Jace thrives in a competitive environment and looks forward to facing elite talent in Puma Circuit tournaments. With a new team and fresh challenges ahead, Jace is eager to build relationships and make an impact. And when the trash talk starts, that’s when Jace is at his best. Jace loves getting under opponents’ skin, flipping the switch into a fierce competitor once the ball goes up. But after the game, it’s all respect. He’s just wired to compete at the highest level.

Handling adversity is second nature for Jace. His pregame ritual of prayer keeps him locked in, and while the butterflies may come before tip-off, they disappear the moment the game starts. Jace thrives in big moments, staying ready and embracing every challenge. The best advice he’s ever received is “Control what you can control.” That has been a game-changer for his mindset. Whether it’s playing time, missed shots, or setbacks, Jace focuses on effort, attitude, and being coachable. That mentality, combined with a relentless work ethic, fuels his drive to be great. Living in the gym more than anywhere else, he stays locked into the present, knowing that every rep, every game, and every lesson learned is another step toward his ultimate goal.

I assess that Jace’s skill set and mentality validate his ability to reach the next level. His electric speed and explosive first step make him a constant threat, capable of blowing by defenders and putting pressure on the rim. Jace's ability to score at all three levels forces defenses to stay honest, while his high-IQ passing elevates those around him. Defensively, his scrappy nature and relentless energy make him a disruptive force.

Jace’s ability to push the pace in transition and create scoring opportunities will be invaluable. With his continued development of adding strength, improving his off-ball movement, and expanding his defensive versatility, Jace will take his game to another level. Adding his relentless work ethic and hunger to improve, there’s no ceiling to what he can become. Expect a player who brings fire to every game, embraces adversity, and thrives in big moments. A program looking for a dynamic, fearless competitor would be getting a difference-maker in Jace Gatlin.
