Will is a dynamic big guard who brings fire, confidence, and efficiency to every inch of the floor. A true shotmaker with size and athleticism, he’s a nightmare to defend, capable of raining threes from anywhere, attacking closeouts with purpose, and punishing defenders who leave a window open. Will plays with the energy of a sparkplug and the precision of a sniper. He’s a fierce competitor who thrives in pressure situations and isn’t afraid to take the biggest shots in the biggest moments. He can handle the ball in space, create offense off the bounce, and slash into open driving lanes to score or make plays. Defensively, he takes pride in locking up matchups, guarding multiple positions, and using his quick footwork and strength to shut down opponents. His nonstop motor os relentless every possession, he hustles, rebounds, communicates, and sets the tone with intensity that raises the bar for his entire team.
This past season, Will averaged 14 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.25 steals per game while shooting a blistering 42% from three on a state championship-winning team. His biggest improvement was on the defensive end, bulking up in the weight room and learning how to guard all five positions. That improvement in versatility allowed him to impact the game far beyond scoring. On offense, he shot the ball more confidently and consistently, becoming a high-level threat from deep while adding decision-making growth and feel for playmaking in transition. In one of his most explosive performances, he scored 36 points on 12-for-20 shooting, including ten threes, highlighting just how dangerous he can be when he catches fire.
Will’s summer with Cooz Elite on the PRO16 circuit elevated his stock dramatically. He became one of the most talked-about prospects in the state, emerging as a name that college coaches couldn’t ignore. He showed his ability to operate in transition, use his length to create mismatches, and take over games against elite competition. After a rocky start in Wichita, where his team went 2-2, Will helped them rebound with a 4-0 record in the first live period. His clutch shooting and all-around energy helped lead Cooz Elite to a championship at the Pro16 Finals, fulfilling one of his main goals.
His focus this offseason has been to improve his ball-handling under pressure, add quickness to his footwork, and expand his ability to create off the bounce. He’s in the gym working on becoming more explosive and confident with the ball so he can consistently attack defenses, break traps, and create in tight spots. He’s locked in on becoming a complete guard who can shoot, defend, facilitate, and lead.
Will enters this next high school season hungry for more. With a leadership role on a team defending its state title, he knows every opponent will bring their best, and that’s exactly what fuels him. He gets fired up when people overlook him. He thrives on pressure. He lives for big moments, and he’s hit game-winners in back-to-back games to prove it. When facing adversity, Will doesn’t point fingers; he pulls his team together, keeps his composure, and leads through the storm. He learned early that being a leader means setting the tone, not creating conflict, and he carries that responsibility with pride.
Coaches can expect effort, toughness, and 110% focus every time Will steps on the floor. He’s coachable, driven, and relentless in his desire to grow. He listens, learns, and responds with action. His confidence is growing by the day, and so is his game.
I assess that Will Goolsby is a high-level guard with elite shooting ability, strong positional size, and the mentality of a winner. His combination of floor-spacing, defensive versatility, and poise under pressure makes him a valuable piece in any system, and his hunger to evolve is what sets him apart.
Will is on the rise and rising fast. With continued development as a creator and ball-handler, he has all the tools to become a complete, impactful guard at the next level. He’s proven he can deliver on big stages. Expect a breakout season ahead with statement-making performances that he is coming for it all. Stay tuned.
