Porter is a nonstop motor combo guard who loves to get out in transition then the show begins. Porter is a crafty ball-handler with a high IQ and nice court vision. On the run, Porter can bring the rain from downtown or drop some sweet dimes for his teammates. This unselfish guard can be savvy and downright lethal. Porter is a wiry, scrappy defender who loves to be the other half of a full-court trap causing all kinds of chaos and disrupting the offensive flow. Turning that into easy buckets for his teammates and himself. Porter thrives best with a fast-paced offense that allows the two-guard freedom to move around and create shots off the dribble, shots coming off screens, and by putting his teammates in situations to score in the paint. From a defensive viewpoint, Porter instinctively plays is one of his greatest strengths. Steals, tips, deflections, and rebounds are all part of changing the tempo and momentum of the game. areas Porter excels in the most.
This past season Porter averaged 12 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. In the postseason Porter elevated that average to 16 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Prime time performer! Winning the Sub State MVP award and advancing to the State Championships where his West Valley squad won 3rd in the State. His team became the most successful West Valley team of all time. Winning all District, District Tournament, and all Region Awards as well along the way during his 8th grade season. In Porter's Freshman year at Bearden, the goal is to immerse himself into Bearden’s long-lasting team culture and be the best player he can be for them. Whether that is on the Varsity Squad, JV Squad, or Freshman Squad Porter's goal is to earn his spot and help the team out the best he can.
Playing AAU for Pro One TN 2028 (Coach Dawson). National Silver Division Champions at Spooky Nook Ohio National Championship Tournament. 14-4 record on the Futures Under Armor Tour. Finished as a Top 25 team in the Under Armor Futures Tour. Very high expectations heading into the 2025 season. Porter's focus will now be eating more gaining more muscle mass and improving his man-to-man defense.
What fuels Porter's fire on the court is the competition basketball brings to the table. When people start talking trash, playing physically, or if opposing crowds present a loud environment to play in, all of that provides him with energy and motivation to play focused basketball. Additionally, adversity fuels Porter's fire as well. When things are not going as planned, IPorter uses that as an opportunity to send a message back to the opponents and answer the call to step up for his team.
A coach can expect someone who wants to continuously improve, someone who will work hard, someone who will listen intently, and a player who will be a positive asset both on and off the court. A coach will also get a tireless worker who wants to become the best shooter in the state of TN.
Porter's goal is to one day play D1 basketball. Whether that is starting in a lower division or getting a chance right out of high school, the goal is to experience March Madness one day.
The assessment is Poter is a big-time clutch performer and his stock is still rising. If he tells you he is gonna have a good game, you better grab some popcorn cause it's game on and Porter will deliver on his word. He competes on such a high level it is hard to imagine he is only a freshman. Porter is already a game-changer on both ends of the floor. With his attention to detail, hunger, and passion to keep getting better along with being coachable, he will have the opportunity of a lifetime one day. What I love the most, he wants to earn his way, so often the question is what my role is going to be, not Porter, it's how can I help the team as I earn my spot. That alone is the next-level mentality and D1 stock and beyond. Stay tuned!!
