Gavin is a fierce, explosive linebacker who plays the game with a fire that cannot be contained. He is a sideline-to-sideline defender who thrives on destroying blocks and flying downhill to snuff out plays. Dynamic in pursuit and relentless in effort, he has the instincts to read formations pre-snap and the physicality to finish the job once the ball is snapped. Gavin separates himself from every other player at his position by mixing his athletic tools with a football IQ built through constant study with his defensive coordinator, turning tendencies into turnovers and anticipation into domination. Coaches know that every time he steps on the field, they can expect toughness, effort, leadership, and a defender who will not back down from any challenge.

Across nine games last season, Gavin racked up 64 tackles with 43 of those being solo, adding 5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks while earning 2nd Team All-Region honors. His greatest improvement came in elevating his physicality, becoming a more forceful and imposing presence on the field. This offseason, Gavin faced adversity head-on after tearing his labrum during wrestling season, attacking his rehab with grit and discipline until he reached the strength he needed to dominate. He expanded his game by improving size, strength, and overall skills with his sights on a monster senior year. Driven by a 3.9 GPA and goals of studying Mechanical Engineering, Gavin also brings achievements beyond the field as a multi-sport athlete in baseball, track, and wrestling. His determination, preparation, and team-first mentality earned him recognition from FCS and D2 coaches, with Southern Virginia already extending an offer.

What fuels Gavin most is his faith in Jesus Christ. He openly shares scripture and prayer with his teammates weekly, leaning on Joshua 1:9 as his source of courage and strength: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” For Gavin, glorifying God is the reason he plays. He trusts Him in every season, through injuries, setbacks, and successes alike, knowing that adversity is simply preparation for something greater. That faith allows him to play loose, fearless, and free, turning the game into an act of worship and leadership that inspires everyone around him.

Gavin’s eyes are set on a big senior season, where he looks to lead his team to battle against tough competition, beginning with their opener against Snowflake. His loyalty to his team and community is unshakable, and his focus is on leaving behind a culture of toughness, character, and faith. As a leader in the locker room, he provides a commanding voice, while on the field, he delivers game-changing plays with explosiveness and determination.

I assess that Gavin has the tools to be a defensive anchor at the next level. His ability to shed blocks, read plays before they unfold, and deliver punishing tackles makes him a linebacker who can immediately impact a college defense. Add that with his leadership, intelligence, and unwavering character, and you have a player who not only impacts games but also elevates a program’s culture.
