Jake is a smooth, shifty point guard who impacts the game in every phase. His elite passing ability sets the tone, consistently creating scoring opportunities for teammates with strong reads and timing. On top of his playmaking, he’s an fierce rebounder from the guard spot, crashing the boards and sparking fast-break opportunities. Offensively, his three-level scoring makes him a constant threat, whether slicing into lane for a smooth the middy, finishing through contact, or stepping out to rain shots from deep. With a natural feel for pace and control, he thrives against pressure and plays the game with poise beyond his years.
This summer, Jake averaged 14 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds per game. His biggest improvement came in his ability to finish through contact, showing both toughness and growth as a scorer. Now, his offseason focus is on mastering the fadeaway, adding another weapon to an already versatile offensive bag. The adjustment to the speed of the high school level has been impactful, teaching him how to keep his composure while still pushing the pace. Coaches can always count on him to take care of the ball, make the right reads, and score when needed.
In AAU play, Jake set out to become an elite three-level scorer, and he delivered, proving himself as a consistent playmaker and scorer. He thrives under pressure, especially when facing a full-court press, moments that fire him up and fuel his ability to break defenses and create opportunities on the other end. When facing adversity, he responds with a calm mind and a relentless work ethic, spending extra time in the gym until the problem is solved.
The best coaching advice he’s received is, “Never think about the misses, only think about the makes”. Jake steps onto the court with confidence and belief in his preparation. Off the court, he’s just as dedicated, focusing on recovery, designing basketball workouts, and studying the game through film to expand his basketball IQ. His love for the grind matches his love for the game, making him a guard to watch as he begins his high school career.
I assess that Jake’s vision as a passer, grit as a rebounder, and ability to score at all three levels give him the tools to be a complete guard. His poise under pressure and willingness to do the little things make him a player who lifts up his teammates and impacts winning in every category.
As Jake continues to grow physically and add weapons to his offensive and defensive skill sets, expect him to emerge as one of the premier guards in the Class of 2029. With his passing, rebounding, and all-around control of the game, he has the foundation to become a leader and difference-maker at every level he reaches. Stay tuned for a breakout season ahead.
