Demarcus plays the game with purpose, passion, and poise. A crafty guard with a smooth mid-range game and explosive first step, he thrives at breaking down defenders and attacking gaps with confidence. His pull-up jumper has become a consistent weapon, and when the defense sags, he’s more than capable of elevating and hitting from the elbow. But what really sets Demarcus apart is his evolving leadership. He’s grown from a quiet contributor into a vocal presence, someone who communicates, lifts his teammates, and leads by example. Whether he’s creating scoring opportunities for himself or setting up others, he brings the type of energy and mindset coaches want in their backcourt.
This past season, Demarcus averaged 4.6 points per game with 115 total points, but the stat sheet doesn’t capture his full value. His biggest improvement in the intangibles is leadership, passing, team chemistry, and a willingness to do what it takes to win. He made the tough decision to transfer schools for a better opportunity, and it paid off, proving his commitment during a standout performance that helped solidify his role and reputation. Now, he's working to expand his game even more, focusing on becoming ambidextrous, improving his court vision, and eventually adding dunks to his highlight reel as his athleticism continues to develop.
His AAU session with @sakh17_seniors brought both challenges and growth. While the exposure didn’t meet his expectations, the lessons did. Demarcus learned to compete through adversity, to carry himself with maturity, and to make the most of every opportunity. His style of play draws crowds, not just because he can get a bucket, but because he plays with flair and confidence that makes the game fun to watch. It’s that same drive and infectious energy that now has him preparing to lead Roosevelt toward a playoff push their program hasn’t seen in seven years.
The highlight of his journey so far was receiving his first college offer from United International College, a moment that validated everything he’s poured into the game. The long hours, the mindset shift, and the risk of transferring have all led to a breakthrough.
When facing adversity, he is calm under pressure, determined, and always looking to get better. Demarcus is a guard with more than just talent, but he has direction. He knows what he wants, and he’s going after it every day with resilience and drive.
I assess that Demarcus is a dynamic guard with a smooth middy, quick first step, and growing leadership skills. His mindset, effort, and commitment to development make him a strong long-term asset for programs that value growth, maturity, and creativity at the guard spot.
As he continues elevating his handles, improving his left, and becoming a more consistent scoring threat, Demarcus is ready for a breakout season. With his first offer on the table and a renewed sense of confidence, expect him to rise and help his team do the same. Stay tuned.
