6ft, Class of 2030

Blenheim, NZ

Elijah brings a competitive fire to the point guard spot, with the confidence to score and the vision to bring his teammates into the action. He likes to push the pace, attack when he sees an opening, and make a play when the pressure rises. His shooting can make a defender step closer, while his handle gives him a way to create when that defender does. Elijah wants to be a complete guard, and that means being just as alert to a teammate’s chance as he is to his own.

Last season, Elijah averaged 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. As his confidence grew, he became more comfortable taking charge as a scorer and trusting the work he had put into his game. The biggest team moment came when he helped win the 2026 U15 Mainland Championship. That title meant more to him than a personal scoring night because it showed what his team could accomplish together.

Elijah points to his shooting and confidence as the biggest improvements in his game. He has spent time working on his perimeter shot so he can make it a more consistent part of his attack. He has also worked on creating his own look and making quicker decisions with the ball. Those changes let him play aggressively while still seeing when a teammate has a better chance to score.

His achievements show how long Elijah has been growing into that role. He won MVP at the U13 level and earned U15 Shooter of the Year honors twice. Each recognition gave him a reason to believe in his game, but it also gave him a reason to keep working. He wants his shooting to hold up against stronger competition and his decision-making to grow with every chance he gets to lead.

Coming from a smaller basketball community in New Zealand has brought its own challenges. Elijah knows he has to work hard to find exposure and opportunities, and he refuses to let his starting point decide how far he can go. He's stayed focused on the parts of his game he can control, believing that consistent work will help him be ready when a new opportunity comes.

That work fills his time in the gym and on the court. Elijah trains his shooting, ball handling, strength, and athleticism, giving attention to the skills he needs as a scoring guard and a playmaker. He knows talent by itself will not carry him to his goals. He wants a coach to see a competitor who listens, learns, defends, and does what his team needs, even when the best play is a pass instead of a shot.

Elijah believes his ability to create for teammates is the most underrated part of his game. His scoring draws attention, but he enjoys using that attention to find another player with a good look. That balance is valuable for a point guard who wants to lead without losing his aggressive edge. He can keep a defense alert with his own shot while making sure his teammates stay involved.

Basketball in New Zealand has helped Elijah build his understanding of the game. He sees the United States as a place with more opportunities to compete and be seen, and he believes his shooting, handles, and scoring ability would help him adjust to that environment. He's ready to learn from new coaches, fit into different systems, and test his game against stronger opponents. His goals are to represent New Zealand and earn a chance to play in the United States, but the fire behind those goals is personal: Elijah wants to find out how far his work can take him.

Elijah’s scoring threat gives him a strong way to influence what a defense does, while his vision helps him use that attention for his teammates. He can attack with confidence, make a quick decision, and find a pass when an opening appears. His willingness to compete on both ends gives him the tools to help his team beyond his offense.

Elijah has the potential to become an even more dynamic point guard as his perimeter touch and shot creation continue to grow. His fearless approach under pressure, combined with a genuine feel for setting up teammates, can help him thrive against tougher competition. He has the skill and drive to make his mark while continuing to grow into the leader he wants to be.
