Darius is a versatile point guard with explosive drive, relentless energy, and a fierce commitment to both ends of the court. His game is a blend of toughness and a high IQ, scoring when needed, facilitating with purpose, and anchoring the defense with pride. He thrives in the chaos, makes others better, and brings the kind of leadership that can't be taught. With a tight handle, strong rebounding from the guard spot, and the ability to finish through contact or drop dimes from penetration, Darius is the heartbeat of any unit he’s on. Defense is where he ignites, locking into opponents with tenacity and setting the tone for his squad. On top of it all, he plays with a deep purpose that pushes his performance beyond the stat sheet.
This past season, Darius averaged 10.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game, numbers that barely scratch the surface of his true impact. He’s grown stronger physically and mentally, now playing with a new level of confidence and endurance. That growth is no accident, he’s been grinding in the weight room and training to raise his explosiveness and physicality. His offseason goals are to tighten his handle under pressure and increase his shooting versatility across all speeds and game tempos. He’s determined to become a complete guard who can thrive in any situation. But the real story isn’t just about his development, iit’s about the fight behind it.
Darius spent six months away from the game battling cancer. Through three surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and unimaginable adversity, he refused to fold. He leaned on faith, fought every day, and came back stronger, with a fire that few can understand. That journey wasn’t just about survival, it was about rediscovery. He’s now playing with a new perspective, grateful for every rep, every possession, and every second on the court. Returning to play, surrounded by his brothers and teammates, was more than a comeback, it was a rebirth.
This AAU season, he’s back with the Hayes Hornets 17U squad, locked in on dominating the Live Period GASO Tournament in Duncanville and using every event as a platform to chase his dream. He’s focused on being seen, being heard, and proving that no battle, not even cancer, 0can take away the game he loves. His senior year is a chapter he’s ready to write with fire, discipline, and pride.
Darius is powered by defense, inspired by loss, and motivated by the opportunity to inspire others. He’s lost loved ones, stared down adversity, and found strength through it all. His leadership, character, and heart shine brighter than any stat line. He raises the level of everyone around him, not just through talent, but through example.
I assess that Darius is a tenacious, high-IQ point guard who combines mental toughness, unselfishness, and fearless intensity. His ability to facilitate, defend, and lead makes him a true game-changer. With physical strength and emotional resilience, he offers college programs a player built to handle pressure, adversity, and big moments.
What lies ahead for Darius is a season of statement-making performances. As he continues to improve his handle and expand his offensive range, expect a poised floor general who commands the game with grit and purpose. His heart, work ethic, and story give him an edge most don’t have, and his game is only evolving. He’s not just chasing a dream but earning it every day.
Keep a close eye on this young warrior who is on a mission to prove that no matter what he faces, the gift God gave him, along with his faith and ultimate resilience, can do more than compete but thrive. Hungry, determined, and poised to walk out the scripture Philippians 4:13, " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This is a kid to cheer for and support with everything in us. Stay tuned for a statement run ahead.
