Channing is a confident scoring guard who brings the rain from beyond the arc and doesn’t need much daylight to get it off. Once that jumper starts falling, the floor opens up, and he goes right at you, attacking gaps and welcoming contact. He lives at the free-throw line and gets downhill play after play. He plays aggressively, with an edge, and plays like he wants the ball when it matters. On the other end, he is a scrappy defender and makes every touch a fight, bringing that same edge defensively that he plays with on offense.
Through 7 games this season, Channing is averaging 19.5 points, 3 assists, and 7 rebounds per game, backing up the eye test with production. He doesn't just settle for just outside shooting, but thrives at getting into the paint, finishing through bodies, and forcing defenders to deal with him inside. That has opened up good looks from deep and more trips to the line. The defensive improvement shows, too, staying physical, staying locked in, and guarding possession after possession.
His finishing stands out. Channing is attacking off two feet, staying balanced, and finishing strong instead of rushing plays. Defenders can’t just crowd him anymore because he’s comfortable taking contact and scoring right through it anyway. Shooting 85 percent or better from the free-throw line is a season goal, but the real goal is settling some unfinished business. Coming up short against John Marshall in the state championship still burns, and that edge shows up every night.
Energy fuels his game, whether from teammates, the crowd, or momentum swings. Once he sees one go down, he starts stacking plays on both ends. When facing adversity, he stays steady, keeps attacking, and doesn’t panic. He trusts his game, keeps confidence high, and stays ready for the next moment.
I assess that Channing brings scoring punch, downhill pressure, and toughness to a college program. He spaces the floor, draws fouls, rebounds his position, and competes defensively in ways that keep him on the floor. He impacts winning.
Channing is a guard you can trust when the game gets tight. Expect continued production, more paint pressure, and a competitor that wants the moment. His confidence, edge, and motor point to a player who keeps rising as the stage gets bigger. He is just getting started. Stay tuned as this rising star is on a mission with fire and purpose:to get that championship.
