Kru Allen brings an electric mix of speed, power, and football IQ to the heart of Buda Hays’ defense. He describes his game as violent, fast, and smart, and he takes pride in diagnosing plays before attacking downhill. With his size, he can meet a runner with fierce physicality, but what separates him is how quickly he figures out where the ball is going.

Through the first four games, Kru stacked 52 tackles, including 33 solo stops and 8 tackles for loss. He also forced 2 fumbles, broke up a pass, added a sack, and put 8 pressures on opposing quarterbacks. His explosive start has stretched into district play, and he wants to keep building on it through the habits that got him here.

The Pflugerville win during his sophomore season helped Kru come out of his shell and showed him he could make an impact in a close game. This season’s gritty victory over San Marcos stands beside it for a different reason. He finished with a personal-best 19 tackles and 4 tackles for a loss, answering a demanding game with one of his strongest performances.

Kru put serious work into his body and his mind during the offseason. Strength training, conditioning, and careful attention to his diet helped him add 15 pounds of muscle in three months. Two speed workouts each week, along with track, helped lower his 40-yard time to 4.5 seconds. When he had time to study, he watched established linebackers, broke down film, and wrote down details he believed could help him on the field.

Before the snap, Kru studies which players are in the game, how the offense lines up, where opponents are looking, and what their body language might give away. That attention helps him move with conviction once the play begins. His voice matters when things go wrong, too. In close games, he takes pride in bringing his teammates together, correcting mistakes and helping the defense answer on the next snap.

Kru wants a coach to know he will lead and produce whenever he steps on the field. His goal is to earn first-team All-State honors, DI offers, and a long playoff run with Hays. God, family, and his hunger to win fuel the relentless work behind those goals.

I assess that Kru’s next challenge is maintaining that intensity from the opening drive through the final whistle. Sharper pursuit angles and controlled finishes can help him turn more difficult chances into stops when opponents test the edges of the defense.

Kru’s impact reaches beyond the tackles he makes himself. His quick decisions and commanding presence help set the tone for Hays, while his ability to disrupt plays gives the defense chances to change the direction of a game. As the season moves forward, he's the tools to keep growing as a leader and make his presence felt in even more ways.
