Matty is a fierce competitor with a non-stop motor that never shuts off and a defensive mindset that sets the tone from tip to buzzer. A true point guard in every sense, he thrives as a two-way disruptor, harassing ball-handlers 94 feet, controlling the tempo, and creating scoring opportunities with his sharp passing and decision-making. His handle is tight, and he understands how to run a team while getting everyone involved. Offensively, he shoots it well and gets into the paint to either finish or dish, while defensively, he specializes in making opposing guards uncomfortable and wrecking chaos. He’s a high-IQ leader with toughness, heart, and a hunger to win.

This past season, Matty averaged 12.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game, posting an impressive +8.8 plus-minus and shooting 38% from three and 51% from two. His biggest improvement was his confidence and aggression, trusting his game more, stepping into big moments, and pushing the tempo without hesitation. His focus heading into the offseason is increasing his vertical to bring even more explosiveness to his already active game. That work ethic will show during AAU season with Beating The Odds Basketball on the Puma NXT Pro Circuit, where his goals are to continue to grow, get in front of college coaches, compete at the highest level, and win their circuit outright.

The spotlight will be on him at NXT Pro Nationals in Orlando, where he’s eager to go head-to-head with elite talent from across the world in a pressure-packed environment. That kind of stage is what Matty lives for: big crowds, tough matchups, and high-level competition. Looking ahead to his senior year, he’s all-in on leading his squad to as many wins as possible and making another deep playoff run. The plays that fuel him most are selfless extra passes that lead to buckets or defensive stops that turn into transition points. He thrives when the entire team is locked in and committed to making winning plays together.

Matty embraces adversity as an opportunity to grow. Whether it’s a personal challenge or a team slump, he views those moments as defining, where true character is revealed and champions are forged.
